Any suggestions on quality protective gear. helmets, kneepads, etc... Is 187 a decent brand?flyjump - 18-3-2012 at 10:11 AM
for pads and armor look for the company sixsixone. I know they make some really good stuff.
Helmets (snowboarding/ skateboarding style) check out pro-tec, TSG, and Bern. As for full face helmets/ racing helmets you might wait for someone
elses advice because i've never used them.arkay - 18-3-2012 at 10:13 AM
+1 661
I use a snowboarding helmet when I'm just ditsing around and a mx helmet other times.
Also depends on the surface you'll be on as to what pads you'll want.WELDNGOD - 18-3-2012 at 11:11 AM
+1 again for 661. I use 2X4 elbow/forearm guards, and I just got their 4X4 knee/shin guards. These are getting a little harder to find, but they are
light and flexible. I got tired of the hard armor stuff- just not comfortable in a buggy. I also use a Troy Lee designs impact shirt, MX helmet for
the buggy and a Demon Phantom auido helmet for board sports.
The site that WG mentioned is a good place to look, especially for their prices on previous years models.acartier1981 - 18-3-2012 at 06:48 PM
I want this stuff

Thats the same stuff in the 661 d3o armour. Evolution series. We use mostly the knee and elbow pads under our clothing.
I have a jar of the ballistic material in the garage. It's fun stuff to play with.fletcht - 19-3-2012 at 02:14 PM
Anyone have info on the 661 Moto Air Vest 2012? rib protection? sizing? etc
thanksSamm - 19-3-2012 at 03:02 PM
For land, i like to wear my paintball pants. Nicely padded and vented. Plus they look cool acartier1981 - 21-3-2012 at 09:09 PM
I know 661 and several other companies are making some D30 pads, but as far as I have been able to find Xion is the only one who makes all D30 armor.
It may be very rare to hit hard on your back while kiting but it only takes one bad day....arkay - 21-3-2012 at 09:52 PM
I have the 661 dj knee's and I don't like them. the plastic cap hurts my knees after a while. So I got the evo knee and elbow pads with the d30
material. It's decent but I wouldn't go hitting yourself with a hammer. I also think they run a bit big on sizing.nocando - 21-3-2012 at 10:23 PM
Guys if you wish to save $$$$ on protective gear scope out mountain bike sites that specialise in DownHill type riding.
lots on offer in their respective for sale sections.
I agree with Arkay on the Djs. They kinda suck. Also he's right the Evos do run big.
I used the Evos and the Kyle Straits. The KS are bulky but comfortable and take a hit. I crash a lot more on my bikes than I do on my kites.:dunno:dandre - 22-3-2012 at 09:46 AM
661 is awesome.
I use a fox titan jacket for everything, and it's held up like a champ.
very comfy, takes a second to put on. djinnzfree - 24-3-2012 at 03:37 AM
Got a pair of BlackDiamond knee pads, very light... their design for telemark. For elbow i use hochey gear from Bauer. Red™ helmet.
