Too bad I cant go back! its on the Gila River Native American Land and I guess you could say we where "trespassing" at least thats what the kind officer ticketed me for.

ha ha... nice spot, better to ask forgiveness than permission, eh?

hope the ticket wasn't too much.

I'm never flown on big chunks of asphalt, jealous here you got the chance!

thanks for sharing...

Nice vid - ticket sucks, could have used that for some head protection and pads... :spin:

I was told by the officer that if I have someone from the tribe I can go whenever I want. Is anyone on this forum a member of gila river tribe? Looks like I need to make some new Native friends.

When you go back to pay the fine, and you should, maybe you could suggest/ask in lieu of a fine if you might teach some native kids how to kite, sort of as a community service project. You would be making new friends for life if they take you up on it... just my thoughts.

That might be the best suggestion I have recieved yet!

Some interesting trivia...
The Gila River Indian Community, with over four million potential customers in the Phoenix metro area, owns and/or operates three casinos, a resort hotel, a spa, an equestrian center, two golf courses, an arts & crafts center, two tribal museums, an NHRA certified race track, a race-car driving school, and a racing-boat course. :o

The reservation was the birthplace of and the home at the time of death of Ira Hayes, depicted in the photograph Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima in 1945.
