I have connected with a new company out of Canada. He has supplied me with 4 kites to demo and get my feedback on them. So far they perform great. I
am going to offer up the opportunity for you to buy these after the nabx event. If you are at the event you are welcome to give them a try because I
would love to hear your feedback on them so I can pass it on to the designer.
I will have to confirm this ... but it is my understanding these kites are all handmade by the designer himself in Canada. No mass producing in China
with this company. The build quality on these is second to none. I have flown all 4 of these and I already know they perform great on my local field.
I am excited to see how well they do in the wide open of the dry lake.
So here is what I will have with me:
Smart kite (depower) flies in very light wind, very fast and responsive, can be lifty.
6.5m complete .. retail $1030 ... sale price $730
10.5m complete .. retail $1450 ... sale price $999
Leader SE.X (fixed bridle) my comparison is to a reactor II but more stable and it has a Adjustable AOA
1.9m complete retail $489 .. sale $350
3m complete retail $589 .. sale $420Kober - 25-3-2012 at 10:57 PM
Canadian crew at WBB use Smarts and talk about how good those kites are ..... let see what US pilots are thinking about those .....DAKITEZ - 25-3-2012 at 11:01 PM
And special thanks to Kober for introducing me to the designer markite - 25-3-2012 at 11:10 PM
I don't know if I'd describe Concept Air as a new company - Benoit and Michelle had the business going in the very early 90s and after Michelle left
to start a kite distribution Benoit still runs Concept Air. The Smart kite is a nice depowerable foil and you do see quite a few in Québec and Ben is
really interesting and fun guy to hang out with.DAKITEZ - 25-3-2012 at 11:23 PM
yes you are correct. I did not speak clearly. What I meant to say was new to me. They are certainly not a new company.
I know before wwbb I had never heard of them. I tend to believe many here in the usa have not heard of them as well. Ben gave me some kites to play
with and I also believe he gave rich at ecks some as well. Maybe we can help introduce the usa market to these kites.Todd - 26-3-2012 at 04:32 AM
That is correct Dino, Rich has a few demo's as well.rocfighter - 26-3-2012 at 04:55 AM
The Canadian crew was tearing it up in the fall with these kites. Claude aka FMF was riding so hard with them that he broke a rear wheel bolt.
They seemed to be real stable and powerful. And looked great flying.markite - 26-3-2012 at 06:03 AM

Hey Dino
After I posted I thought it could be taken either way and that you probably meant new to you.
Always fun to try something new, especially if they gave you some beer from Québec as well.Bladerunner - 26-3-2012 at 06:32 AM
They have been a leader in kite touring since it 1st started.
I have been very interested in trying the smart kite for a while now.

Odd ,I could have swore he was flying a YakuzaBeamerBob - 27-3-2012 at 10:22 AM
I'd like to give these a whirl if a chance arises at nabx. Good stuff needs to be known to the masses.DAKITEZ - 23-4-2012 at 07:44 AM
Last chance! I am going to pack them up today and send them back tomorrow if no body buys them.
The 1.9m Leader is a excellent high wind engine.
The 6m smart was on the playa for only a few minutes so not too dirty.
The 10.5m smart did not see the playa so it is still freshB-Roc - 23-4-2012 at 09:47 AM
Wish there was more info on these kites. I've heard good things about them but the information is very limited (even on the website). Hard to plop
down money on something there is so little info on.DAKITEZ - 23-4-2012 at 10:21 AM
yes I was hoping to aid in the information available on these but my schedule lately has not allowed me to do this. So basically with my schedule now
if things can't sale themselves than I do not have the time to try and convenience people about something they never tried or heard about before.
I was hoping to bring a light to these great kites but I just simply do not have the time to put forth the effort it will require to do so.
All I can do at this point is say my experience with them, but I realize people need alot more convincing to drop down their hard earned cash. Videos,
etc are just not possible at this time as they require tons of time to do.
I will say the smart kites are a top notch sail. They have an extremely simple bridle system which produces extremely low drag. The bigger sizes will
fly in extreme low winds. Another thing I did not even realize till about my 3rd time out was no brake bridles ... even less drag.rocfighter - 23-4-2012 at 11:09 AM
I sit corrected on the kite brand. To hard to type while standing!!Bladerunner - 23-4-2012 at 04:46 PM
This is a real shame.
If I wasn't tapped out I would be all over one of these kites.
I wonder if they would allow you to demo them out ?
