New Ivanpah Dry Lake video

BeamerBob - 29-3-2012 at 02:21 PM

These might be ultra boring to some but I know some enjoy seeing what its like to ride the best place on earth. I squeezed in a video transition but you probably won't notice it.

This is a video of my son Wexler and I riding with Brian Holgate 3-4 weeks ago. I try to get shots of riding with others so you can have more to see.

Notice my timid first try for the day of a suicide jibe at about 7 minutes. I later figured out I needed to be going about 30 mph to make a smooth turn. Of course the video wasn't on later when I did it well over and over. Next tame day out there, I'll set out to get video from several different angles to show what I'm up to.

Sorry about the squeaky sounds. Must be the extended camera mount I used that day. I love hearing the wind but the squeaks are tough to endure.

BeamerBob....
video says it is unavailable when you hit the link.

markite - 29-3-2012 at 02:41 PM

looks like it's still processing - when you click the youtube icon to go to youtube to watch it gives the processing message and to check back in a while.

BeamerBob - 29-3-2012 at 02:52 PM

I thought it had finished, but yes its at the last stage of posting. Sorry for the premature linkage.

Video is now LIVE.

cheezycheese - 29-3-2012 at 03:42 PM

Cool video, but the title had me thinking Kent released a new version of the Ivanpaugh. :dunno:

Dino, I left the door open. Just walk right through!

Cheezy, title changed for clarity! :bouncy:

Rendering another one with a stab at some music.

Cheddarhead - 29-3-2012 at 04:23 PM

Thanks for the vid Bob! Just like a little slice of heaven for those of us who can't make it there.:bigok:

Drewculous - 29-3-2012 at 04:23 PM

Forever jelly man.....

BeamerBob - 29-3-2012 at 05:01 PM

I'm glad you guys like it. I know how lucky we are to get to ride there and its awesome to be able to share it with those far away.

PHREERIDER - 29-3-2012 at 05:44 PM

nice bob, seems to be lots of tracks.

mougl - 29-3-2012 at 05:49 PM

BB, awesome playground man! I can't wait til I can finally get out that way and experience the playa first hand. Nothing in the world like a nice leisurely cruise

BeamerBob - 29-3-2012 at 05:53 PM

Phree, those tracks are all but gone now with the soaking rain the lakebed got a couple weeks ago. The surface is hardened back up now so it should be more durable.

Nope. Love the vids. Thanks for sharing for those of us that can't be there.

markite - 29-3-2012 at 08:46 PM

Nice video Bob, even with the squeaks. I was thinking the surface looked like a lot of ruts - glad to hear that most are gone.
Looking forward to riding with you and Wexler and the local gang again next week.

RedSky - 29-3-2012 at 09:23 PM

That's an obscene amount of space. Love the mountains in the background and love the American accents. What line lengths and camera ?

BeamerBob - 29-3-2012 at 10:18 PM

It's a gopro 960. Lines on the Montanas are 22m as from the MFR. Yes Redsky it is quite huge. Amazingly that was with a north wind and we were taking the shortest run possible on the lakebed. Add in some more east or west and your run length can easily double.

Nice one Bob...enjoyed that, its worth experimenting with a sound track, tbh thats my fave part, and I can spend as long searching for a track, than making the video its self.....but the video POPs and comes alive when you get it right.

ripsessionkites - 30-3-2012 at 12:50 AM

Can we go yet .... SAT is going to be HUGE!!!

I did it again with music and I liked it but my software doesn't have the thing that lets me adjust the ambient sound against the music track. It just puts it in there and I can't cut out the squeaks.

markite - 30-3-2012 at 08:19 AM

Hey Bob
let us know what software you used and maybe someone will have a few tips on adjustment that might not be as evident playing with that software?

chris - 30-3-2012 at 09:21 AM

Can't wait :singing:

BeamerBob - 30-3-2012 at 09:43 AM

Thanks Mark. I tried a demo of Power Director 10 but the demo won't work with mp4 files. Great marketing tool they have there. So I dug around and found a Roxio Creator software I have and I can make it work but can't get past the most basic of import export functions. The vid I put out yesterday, I did on AVS editing software. It's free but wouldn't let me work with the music like should be basic stuff.

I wish I knew the right thing to use. I don't mind paying a bit for good stuff and have confidence that with any instructions at all, I can start to learn it. I just don't know where to start. I am a civil designer using AutoCad software and was an instructor for AutoCad at a Community College a few years back, so I'm technically capable, just don't know what the right software is to begin with. My computer is running Vista which might be a stumbling block. It might be time to strip the tower out and put in good current stuff if that's what's holding me back.

Exactly! It's either RAM or Processor or a combo problem.

tridude - 30-3-2012 at 12:26 PM

sweet footage Bob.........................what size Montanas?

BeamerBob - 30-3-2012 at 12:28 PM

I'm on the 9.5 and Wexler is on the 7m. He said he was a bit underpowered at times but so was I. He likes to be well powered and not be bothered with loose lines like his dad.

tridude - 30-3-2012 at 12:37 PM

between the playa and Sullis/IOP your gonna be one spoiled kiter this summer.........................:lol::duh::duh:

tridude - 30-3-2012 at 01:03 PM
