I'll be camping out on Tybee Island, GA with my wife and 3 little kids Sunday April 14 thru 16. We'll be hitting the north end beach for obvious beach
fun, but also some kiting. I'll have some fun single line stuff for my kids, but lots of fun stuff for me too.
I'll be there with my 2 kites and bug, and would love to see some other kite peeps there for some fun.
We'll be driving in Sunday morning so we may not hit the beach until the afternoon, then most of the day Monday, and maybe some in the morning Tuesday
(TBD).
Like I said, join us! We'd love to see some PKF people! and I'm sure my wife would like to see someone who knows better than I what they're doing
flying kites or buggying! HAHA 
please help advise my plans based on the wind forecast,... see below

You said you had a park to fly in Atlanta? I'm 3 hours a way and get to ATL. once a month or so
and maybe we can hook up some time. Got an address so I can Google earth to see it?
Where are you going to camp on Tybee? Are you staying in the camp ground there? It's nice.
Tybee is about 2 1/2 hours from me. Be sure to eat at the "Crab Shack" YUM YUM. And feed the Alligators. This is a real cool place, we have to go
there every time we get to the island.
Best deal is the family platter. Reasonable prices. You don't have to dine there to feed the alligators, your kids will have a BALL. They have birds,
parrots and cats.(the other white meat)
My birthday is the 16th and we might come down for the day and maybe we can hook up. Depends on time and $'s. Gas is $3.71 gal. here. Birthday dinner
at the Crab Shack for my 65th sounds good to me! Hummmm better talk that over with the Mrs. (boss) (Queen) (banker).
I mostly fish from the 3 fishing piers there. The beach in front of the lighthouse is narrow
and even smaller during high tide. I saw a fellow flying a C-kite on the south end one time.
All the way south has a lot of pileings and rocks and junk. Never been on the extreme north end
of the beach, past the light house. Not sure how to get there. That's a Google earth visit.
Sorry you won't be at JIBE, I've been getting ready for the trip. Up graded my buggy with new "Big Foot" tires. Got a couple of different kites. A Z2
Zebra 3m and a HQ Scout ll 5m with a cross over bar so I can hook in to my harness. Not a de-power, 4 into 3 with bar, chicken loop. Will be trying
it out this week end if there's a breeze.
If your interested I've been selling Big Foots for $75.00 each plus shipping and they will fit your 8" wheels. 2 ply smooth, should work with your
front fork and for sure with the rear axle.
My company "Xtreme Kite Buggy" has been putting together some products other than stickers, number boards and graphics. I now have tires and a great
buggy rack that plugs into
your trailer hitch. I'll send you some pictures.

Hey Davis, Yeah, come join... Beamer Bob said a while back that the north end beach was a good spot. We are staying at the River's End Camp ground, so
I think the lighthouse/ north beach will be best for us, as we'll probably be walking. We'll see how it works out.
In North Atl. (Marietta) I fly at the far south end of Jim R. Miller park which is what they use as the parking lot for the north GA fair. I don't
have an address though. It's about as big and open as you can get near Atl. I thought it was about 1/2 the size of OOBE, but being at OOBE Monday, I
can see its really only 1/4 to 1/3 the size but still plenty big. Send me an email (linky below) next time you come to town and we'll see if we can
get together.

On checking the early forecast, it looks like the wind (on Monday at least) will be out of south, so my thoughts are that maybe we'll be beaching it
on the south end of the island.
I have no experience with kiting in beach wind, but I'm assuming if the presentation is from the south, the breeze from the sea on the south end will
be better than if we're on the north end catching the wind after its crossed over the island... is this assumption correct?
So if the forecast holds and my assumption is correct we'll be on the south end.
Advice would be appreciated... Muchas gracias!

the south end is the place i have kited and it is the spot for s-sw . beach front will work for static for sure.
low tide is about 11am sunday. that means hightide will be moving through the late afternoon. wind in the morning is generally poor but for static
stuff should be fine. best wind is after 3pm and if its light high tide will make it even lighter. it is spring and can ramp up from the west and
turn to south and the northend may be decent with the west in the am. if it west, a couple nice spots up the river. check with the guys at AOK
or the board loft by the surf shop, Hi Tide Surf shop.

I'll have the bug with, so we'll see if anything happens there.
We won't be there 'till afternoon Sunday, so maybe we'll have just a static day, and single/double line stuff with the kiddos.
The forecast is for a south or southwest presentation all day Sunday and Monday, so hopefully we can make something out of it.
Do you think you might be able to be around? Love to see you again if you can make it. Pokite gave me some great buggy help last week @ OOBE, and I'd
love to see you and learn from your Guru knowledge bank.

So we're here now on the Island. Due to the expected lag of traveling with 3 small kiddos under the age of 7 (1 still nursing), the 4 hour drive from
metro Atlanta took about 6 hours (primarily due to the extended lunch break at an in between McDonalds.... loves the playgrounds yo :singing: ).
We got onto the Island around 5 pm and had time to head to the camp ground, set up base camp and head out to the restaurant that Davis recommended
above (the crab shack). So far without even unzipping a kite bag, this trip has been awesome. If any of you ever decide to vaca on Tybee, and are into
camping/ RV-ing this is a great spot (Riversend RV park). Obviously free WIFI as I sit in a lawn chair in front of a tent in very little light typing
on this forum. Just put your food out of reach of the racoons, they aren't shy.
The restaurant was pretty cool too; they have a lagoon full of alligators which they will let you feed for $3. Cool atmosphere, awesome view, and very
rough around the edges in a cool way,... almost a little too rough. I think If we had waited any longer, the crowd would likely have gotten a little
rowdy.
Touched down on the beach at about 8 pm to satiate the kiddos before bed, and the hard pack looks nice... hopefully it won't be too crowded tomorrow.
So its been a great trip so far, will do as much kiting as possible, and share the experience, and hopefully some vids.

The riding was awesome both Monday and Tuesday
A regular wind between 8 & 9 knots fairly unpopulated beach... found a good spot on the south end of the Island. At first I put up the 5m Core,
but it was a bit too much for my skill level on the bug, so I put up the 3m beamer and had an awesome time learning a lot... it was freekin awesome to
be on a beach.
Tuesday, I met a guy from All-out Kiteboarding giving a lesson on a 7.5m HQ Apex and landboard which was pretty sweet.

@ pokite, there is a north beach that is walking distance to the campground, but we never went there. The wind was out of the south the whole time we
were there so we were always on the south end of the island, which was only about a 5 or 10 minute drive. The RV park is perfect for the kite fort. A
local told me too that the south beach is where there are the least people, so it worked out well.
One downside was parking. EVERY parking space on the island is metered, and it costs $1.50 per hour. Not too bad if your only going to be there a few
hours, but I'm sure it can add up over a long period. And the parking tickets are $45.
It was my first flying on a beach experience, so I can't compare it to anything else, but for me it was pretty awesome.

Phree, try to hit the beach access between 17th st and the southernmost access, and you'll find a pretty good spot or 2 between there and the pier.
A local told us that down there is the least populated. That's where I met the guy from All out kiteboarding. Huuuuuuuuuge sandbars out there too that
I couldn't get to with the bug. Might be worth your while.
I'm planning on getting my vid up Monday or Tuesday. I'll post on a separate thread in the buggy forum.

hit it 12-5pm, nice crowd at the pier, naish demo was there hit that too! about 30 min. ...just me and him. little light for the water after
tide change so ran the RIDE naish 12m with the ATB.
v13 pulled the vid runs ...basically solo act! NO ONE WAS there after nic left about 2

When I was there the temps were 60 deg lows and 80-85 deg highs.
Not sure about the water, but it was not too cold. In fact there were several beachgoers in the water and I did see 1 kite surfer tuesday.
I'll be posting my vids early next week, prob. on the buggy forum.
