pigryder - 3-4-2012 at 08:04 AM

Hey guys Im headed to frisco for a long weekend april 14-17, I have two kites to get me in the water now and a buddy might let me borrow a board. I can landboard, and snowkite, but I have not yet kiteboarded
Ive been going to obx every year for bascially my whole life and wer're headed to frisco to camp for a few days and was hoping there might be a local who will be out riding or maybe I could meet up with somebody for a few hours somewhere close?? Im kinda looking for a little direction or advice and will have beer to barter. I wont be able to spend a lot of time because I'll be with the wifey and my chocolate lab but they love kites and water too :singing:
I will try to check back here reguarly before the trip and you can also email me here pigryder at ya hoo . com

Thanks guys!

Depending on the weather, I MIGHT be there. Can't make any promises though.
Wind direction plays a big part in riding locations. If there is any north in the wind, then Frisco Campground is a fine place to ride... However, if there is south in it... maybe not the best spot...
;)
You might want to consider dropping one of the lesson centers a line to see if they have any time available to do a quick lesson with you. Could help... a LOT.

Thanks man, I will look into sending a few emails...

Kittyhawk? Real?? anyone recommend one??

Brian Lee used to work at Kitty Hawk. So did AJ. That might say something about the folks there. I've heard both good and bad stories at Real. Some people love it, some people hate it. Hard to call that one. There are some other smaller outfits that do much more personalized kind of lessons. One dude does lessons off the back of his boat. I do not recall those folks names and numbers. I can look them up though. I have never heard anything bad about the small outfits...

That is the guy whose name I could not recall. Heard a lot of good stories about him. I do not think you could go wrong there, if he is available.

Last April there was one kiteboarding teacher who was living at the Frisco campground, in a camper. I arranged for some some lessons with him... but he got sick the day I was supposed to start my lessons. As far as I know, he's teaching using Flysurfers and very likely he's still there. I can get you his name and number if you're interested.
