Flat out till JIBE

Drewculous - 3-4-2012 at 03:52 PM

Personal goals are a fickle/painful b**ch sometimes

Since Feb 1st i have been hammering the gym... i mean, 5 days a week, soaked in sweat, pushin iron, incapacitated at times with pain, literally lifting my a$$ off...

Not trying to brag... just getting my goals on "paper" in hopes of pushing myself harder. 4 weeks of 12,10, 8 "bodybuilder" sets with great results, and 4 weeks of 5x5 "powerlifter" sets, with great results too...

On the scale I've dropped 25lbs since feb 1st.... 265 to 240 (and two notches on my belt!)... but the scale bugs me.... ALL of my lifting stats are WAY up... My One rep max on my big 4:
Flat Bench 325
Squat 330
Dead lift 350
Leg sled 630

I think these are great numbers for me mainly because im on a calorie deficit to lose some pounds, and im not eating to gain, but im still seeing good things :D

so the goal... 220lbs by JIBE

With my current lifting schedule it might be tough to hit the number just because im still gaining muscle mass... so i'm adding more lol!

1 hour of "insanity" in the morning, 1 hour of lifting in the afternoon, and some light exercise after work (walk or hike or something *cough cough KITES) :shocked2:

if i hit my mark, ill be one happy mofo! That is like what i weighed 12 freaking years ago... i'll lose my marbles if i hit it.....

so dont be fat like me... fly a kite more often without strops  (and lay off the last couple beers)

oh yeah... tough mudder challenge next year at Jibe... PM ME!!! We gotta get the PKF crew down there!! (check my sig for information!)

mougl - 3-4-2012 at 03:59 PM

I think I found the weight you lost. Send it somewhere else man!!!

Drewculous - 3-4-2012 at 05:08 PM

Without the cardio my maintenence caloric intake is roughly 3300-3500 calories... Anything under that is considered a deficit... I actually eating about 2500 a day... 500 more than most food labels say is healthly ( ) so im only down 800 to 1000 calories a day... Which equates to ~ 2 lbs a week.. If I can get closer to 4 lbs a week, my goal may happen... Hopefully 5 hours of intense cardio will get me closer... But 4lbs a week on a healthy diet is tough!!

High protein, so so carbs/fat.... And a laundry list of goodies I feel im missing... Fish oil, milk thistle, a joint health sup for my knees, and my old buddies branch chain amino acids, bananas, a multivitamin, etc... And like 2+ gallons of water a day....

By the books is the best way to get it done!!

Thanks Angus! Id love to bring a different six pack to jibe!!

way to go DREW! stay motivated , i lost about 100# 10+yrs. ago.

stay away from sugar, and anything processed/packaged.

if it has a label....put it down and keep moving.

forget about the scales and #'s crap.

very empowering ! thanks for sharing

snowspider - 4-4-2012 at 06:54 AM

Drew I'm with you for 2013.
Since Feb. started speed walking with the pug, then jog with the pug , then longer jog , half carry the pug, then nice long stide jog,no pug. I'm at 2.5 miles easy peasy ,ready to bump up the speed. Down 3-4# by cutting back to one donut in the morning no mid morning snack and down to one bag of Chips Ahoy per week, I'm used to snacking every 2 hours , I feel hungry almost all the time.
I've got the gym in the basement all cleaned up and started sampling the Tough Mudder work out schedule.
HR 60, BP has always been good, knee pain subsided to almost nothing.
As Jodie Foster in Contact said "I'm ok , still good to go"

Dude, I cant picture you with 100 more lbs! Thats awesome!!

I know scale numbers mean a lot less than overall health and progress, but its a good mark for month to month comparisons... Im actually just really happy to see some abs and shoulders! Been hitting the delts and traps pretty hard, and its showing. Im also really trying to get my squats and deadlifts up as I never really worked on em too hard.

I have a little pot belly up front thats gotta go, and my love handles... its where I store it all... If my whole body looked like my legs tho... look out arnold

I think the hardest thing is eating ALL the time, I've cut out bread (barring the occasional deli treat) and MANG do I have to eat ALOT.

If I'm not careful between biking and not eating nough' at work I'll lose a lot in days. Sometimes it's a fight just to keep a proper weight/ keep my ambition down so my body can heal and develop new muscle.

I can finally see 50mi and the work it'll take though. I realized the other day I really don't CARE about the 50mi, it's what I want learn to get there thats more important.

I rode so hard the past two days(for me anyway) I couldn't move from the floor. Food never tasted so good, tv was a little funnier.

Couldn't wait for the next day and the lessons I'd learn.

Glad to hear you're staying safe. Keep up the great work! I'm rootin' for ya

Drewculous - 14-4-2012 at 07:13 AM

Switched routines in favor of a high intensity cardio/lifting program... 5 days a week, insanity 5 days, hiked our giant sandstone bluff once, and did two extra ab work outs this week... And stayed super strict on my 30+ meals this week.. all told, about 15 hours of super crazy workouts. 6lbs fell off my sweaty a$$ this week :D

The workout switch has me holding a little extra water, buy im ok with that...water is easy to lose. Countdown to jibe!!

Also dropped all alcohol till we get to jekyll... Empty calories have no place right now lol!!

This song seems to always be playin in the back of my mind this week

cheezycheese - 14-4-2012 at 09:40 AM

Drew, this is what you really need...

:spin::spin:

Drewculous - 14-4-2012 at 09:59 AM

My old tae kwon do instructor loved that song! I know it well! However it isnt on the workout playlist... Gotta get that one on there!

At 3/4 of the work out done, dripping sweat, every piece of clothing (even shoes) soaked through, can barely stand up, and I finally catch my breath and stand up, and catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror, just completely destroyed... I look over at the weights for my last set, and I get exited to bust out that last set... I get stoked for the next workout, the next sweat... The only thing I can be is insane

So eye of the tiger is good, but im not full of tiger blood, im just nuts
(good pick tho, its getting added as we speak!)

cheezycheese - 14-4-2012 at 10:08 AM

I just wanted to infect your brain... :Ange09:

5 days straight of intense 2-a-days.... insanity @ 1+ hours in the AM... 1 hour of stupid intense lifting in the pm......

BAM!!!!

thanks for the Survivor cheezy, it helped a lot this week!!!

Drewculous - 11-6-2012 at 07:39 AM

Jibe has come and gone... The super strict diet has become a little more relaxed... But im still hitting the gym hard, and cardio-ing in the mornings... Ive hit a wall on the scale and cannot break 225... My weight fluctuates around 228, but it will not break that damn two and a quarter :ticking: (probably why im slackin a little on the diet  )

Got back from jibe and jumped into a high rep / low weight set schedule... Different body region each day, arms monday, legs tues, chest wed, back thurs, shoulders fri... And doing 20, 15, 12, 10 sets, 6 different exercises a day...4 weeks on that, then two weeks of heavy 5x5 or 5,3,1 sets (not sure yet) im hoping the switch up may drop an extra lb or two. Fat is still coming off, but adding muscle throws my scale numbers off...grrr!

But on a side note.... Running my first 5k on saturday! Its to benefit local cancer patients. I decided I should prep a little, and knocked out 4.5 miles this morning easier than I ever have before! Gotta get up to 10 miles by next june.... Already signed up for the tough mudder!!

Anyway, just wanted to say it feels good to be getting healthy... Whoop whoop!

cheezycheese - 11-6-2012 at 07:46 AM

Mas Macho !!

snowspider - 11-6-2012 at 09:28 AM

Drew you're a freaking MANIMAL! My goal is 7miles by the end of summer ,at a good trot hoping any remaining distance can be covered on brute strength and ignorance. Started weight lifting , 20# of pug on a short leash hanging from his teeth 100yards each arm individualy. Girl at work wanted someone to rollerblade with in the park, have'nt seen her there yet but I'm up to 18miles Saturday evening and went back for 10 more Sunday morning. Its fun going fast and not having my knees hurt. Down 10# since Feb. I'll convert 5 more flab to muscle and be right on the money.

rocfighter - 11-6-2012 at 01:39 PM

WOW Patrick that is awesome. When I'm feeling better I'll try to catch up with you. I was getting all sycked about this whole mudder thing going around. Then got sick again. Find out Wednesday where I go from here. I bet quick fix and back in the buggy!! You guys are a great inspiration.

Drewculous - 12-6-2012 at 05:39 AM

Whoo!! Awesome spider!!

Just got done running 5 miles, managed it in 42 minutes... Not the fastest, but I actually havent ran 5 straight miles in like 3 years... And even then was one of like 3 or 4 times ive ever done that!!

1920, SCKC, & a new one FFK (Former Fat Kiter) idk, I need a shower, lmao!

Well its lookin like a busy year for races... Got invited to do the colorado spartan race in may, the warrior dash in omaha, also in may lol, and the tough mudder in june...... I got invited to do a full marathon in september, but I am a long way off from 26 miles....bleh... But we have several 5 & 10k runs around here I think im going to try and hit all of em! Not bad for crap knees, and a genetic disposition to running

Drewculous - 16-6-2012 at 07:41 AM

Just ran for the third time this year... Lol been working on insanity... Anyway, third run was a 5k for local cancer patients... Logged a 31.17 on my first ever "official" run! Woooo! Not the greatest time ever, but I finished in about the middle of the pack!

New goal is a half marathon in october!!!

Not half bad for an overweight meat-head-gym-rat

frankiter - 16-6-2012 at 11:49 AM

Is there a genetic disposition to NOT running? I'm pretty sure I've got that!

rocfighter - 16-6-2012 at 01:21 PM

Frank I'll stand on the side lines with you and Cheer all these knuckle heads on!! OH and we can throw bottles of water at them too:smilegrin:

frankiter - 16-6-2012 at 03:06 PM

Rocfighter, are you thinking of heading down to JIBE next year?

Ive got it!

I hate running... Just because I suck at it tho... Hoping ill learn to love it

rocfighter - 16-6-2012 at 04:38 PM

Frank we are working that out now actually. We are thinking Jibe instead of spring WBB or in a perfect world BOTH!!
Oh and running is for people afraid of bears. I have discovered first hand hiking in a lot of mountain ranges that bears are afraid of us. Or at least me. But then it could have been that I was in the woods for two weeks!!

bobalooie57 - 16-6-2012 at 04:42 PM

 Dave was "stronger"(and hairier) than the bear! Yeah, I'll walk all day, but running is only for emergencies! :tumble:

frankiter - 17-6-2012 at 01:42 PM

Roc, you and the Kid would reeeeeaaaallllyyy like JIBE. Just sayin....
