extra wide rims .. any interest??

van - 4-4-2012 at 07:02 PM

I will be placing an order from the buggykiteshop this week. Since I am ordering directly from their china factory, the shipping will be reasonable. This round of production will be with stainless steel bearings so the price is a little higher. The 8x8 rims with stainless bearings will be about $85 on the website once it's updated.

I just wanted to know if there's any future interest in larger 8x8 rims so I can pre-order them. No commitment required, just want to see if there's any interest on the larger size. I will stock the 2.5x8 and 4x8 rims. I plan to only stock limited quanity of the 8x8 and was wondering if there's any interest so I know how much to order.

I could be. U2U sent

I just need a tally so I can plan my stock. I will have them in stock but will be limited unless I know people are interested in them.

I will have atleast 50 of the 4x8 and 40 of the 2.5x8 rims in stock. I will have a couple sets of the 8x8. Just reply to this thread if you are interested.

maybe I should have made this a poll .. haha..:dunno:

Just to clarify, I am NOT selling any rims. I am working with a factory in china to bring aluminum rims to the US in bulk so that you can buy them cheaper and not pay the high shipping price. If all this works out like I planned, your local kite store will be able to offer the rims at a huge discount compare to what they are selling them for right now. The current high price is due to the high shipping cost to get them here.

:wee: Make it happen Van!

Hi Van, I'm interested in wide rims also.

I now run 21x12x8 tires on my bug. I upgraded from 16x6.5x8 tires.

I need to know if the wider rims will fit my axle length that goes
through the wheel through the bearings to the axle cap and bolt. Also what
size bearings will fit in the wider rims?

Would the wider rims be better for my big foots, stronger and give me more stability
and less side to side wobble?

My inflation is 5lbs. and they are also tubeless. I have worried about getting into a power slide and blowing a tire off the wheel because of side wall flex. I think that would be less an issue with wider rims. What do you think?????

van - 10-4-2012 at 07:11 AM

The wider rims will help with your side flex issue. Your tires will sit much wider. It will be the full 12" wide that the tires was meant to be.

The rims are 8x8x8 with 20mmx42mmx12mm bearings (6004-2RS). I am working with factory to see if other bearing size can be used. May be possible to use 20x47x14 (6204RS) if hole is bored out 5mm more. I will have to look at the profile of the rims to make sure there's still enough integrity due to the wall thickness change. I should have a decision made to whether or not to order a large quanity from the factory by this friday. There are a few folks on this forum that are using the Seismic 8x8 rims that can chime in how well they perform. I currently use the 8x8 ATV rims made by Douglas that makes the buggy looks like a monster truck.. :singing:

mougl - 10-4-2012 at 07:41 AM

I might be interested :)

BeamerBob - 10-4-2012 at 08:11 AM

Someday I'll be riding beaches and grass again and will want some of the 8" rims for a set of eurotrax or beachracers, but no need for them for 4-5 years. It is great that you are cutting out a middle man and half a world of shipping Van. Nice work.

cheezycheese - 10-4-2012 at 08:25 AM

I would be interested in a set of 2.5"s.

WIllardTheGrey - 10-4-2012 at 09:20 AM

Put me down for 2 8x8s when I get the cash....:ticking:

pyro22487 - 10-4-2012 at 10:00 AM

^^^Same for me Van.^^^

shehatesmyhobbies - 10-4-2012 at 12:16 PM

I can use the 4x8 rims, will take three of course!

van - 10-4-2012 at 01:10 PM

Ok .. I think this post is going the wrong direction ...haha... I am not taking orders. I just want to know if people like the 8x8 rims or not so I can give feedback to the factory for the current production run. Production should be done by end of month.

rocfighter - 10-4-2012 at 06:46 PM

Van the 8X8's would be more than I want I think. I was interested in the 4X8's as my tires are 8" wide.
And no I am not trying to order them from you:P
Hey what is your name man:duh:!!!

g00fba11 - 10-4-2012 at 07:13 PM

8x8's would be cool, I would like to eventually have a set of tires mounted on the 8x8's and the 4x8's.....

So yes....8x8 do have my interest.....

MDK - 12-4-2012 at 01:05 PM

I will be shoping for 8x8's next month.

arkay - 12-4-2012 at 01:26 PM

are these plastic?

van - 12-4-2012 at 06:02 PM

No, these are the seismic aluminum rims. The 2.5 and the 4x8 are on the list to be sent to USA from china. The 8x8 are not as high in demand in the USA so I am trying to gauge sales for 2012. So the result of this survey determines the order for 2012. Once I run out, you will have to pay the higher price to ship from France. This is just me trying to save everyone shipping from France. Also, you will feel more comfortable buying from USA retailer than from international. I am not planning to make huge profit from this. Just want to give everyone a better deal on these rims.

mougl - 12-4-2012 at 06:04 PM

I'm interested in them, when do you think you may order?

van - 12-4-2012 at 09:41 PM

Tomorrow ... production will be complete in another week or so. Then they will ship. I am hoping to get some in stock by first week of May, then I will have a better feel on price. I still don't have the full cost of duty fees and such when it gets to the USA.

popeyethewelder - 17-4-2012 at 12:47 AM

These rims are what I used on the Dominator 4, they are lovely rims for sure

8X8 rims

markite - 17-4-2012 at 08:07 AM

Hey Van
I know this is late following your order date but I would also be interested in a set and maybe even 2 sets but it depends on the end price

martinipro - 25-4-2012 at 06:04 AM

Any update on this? were you able to have the factory ship a few 8x8s?
If so do you have a final price yet?

BEC - 26-4-2012 at 12:38 PM

I would like to purchase a set (x3) of the 4 x 8 stock rims with bearings...Am I reading this correctly? You will be stocking them in a little bit..or is this just for 8 x 8 's?

doublespeed360 - 26-4-2012 at 04:09 PM

i would like 2 -8x8 van,your the man.let me know [u2u] when they come in.paul

van - 26-4-2012 at 07:26 PM

Word from the factory is that they are delayed so don't have production completion date yet

rocfighter - 27-4-2012 at 04:24 AM

Van I'm still hoping for a set of 3 4X8's lets hope this all works out.

van - 26-5-2012 at 08:50 AM

Production was delayed but finally got completed and ready for shipment to USA. Now I just need to get it to the USA without any custom hassles.

We are also trying to work out production issues on the 17" disc wheels. Who wants some bling???

BTW .. all these wheels are the new production run so will have stainless steel bearing with marine grease. They are priced higher than what you see on the Seismic site. Chris will be updating his prices on the site.

rocfighter - 26-5-2012 at 06:03 PM

Do you have any idea yet what the 4X8's will cost? Of course I will only need them till the fall WBB raffle  :frog::wee::evil:
