Here is what I was in what I had in mind for a race. It will be held on a simple course with a cross wind run to marker and back to a start/finish
line. Once a rider for a team completes a lap and crosses that start/finish line the next member of the team goes till everyone on the team does a
lap. First team to finish wins.
Depending on interest, we can 2-4 teams with at least 2 riders on them. Teams will be random with names drawn out of a hat. If we have more that one
heat team for the next heat will be reformed randomly once again.
This is meant to be a fun race and not ultra competitive. All skill levels are welcome. The random teams will ensure that everyone has a chance of
winning. I think that Friday would be the best day to give this a try with enough people around to give it a go.
Who is up for it?
And if you don't want to compete, who would be interested in helping out and being a marshal for the race?BEC - 7-4-2012 at 05:26 AM
Can we use one of those big fans on the back of the buggy?:Dbuggydanny - 7-4-2012 at 05:31 AM
Bruce
If the fan is OK as long it's power source comes from the wind.
Are you in?BEC - 7-4-2012 at 05:40 AM
Hell yeah!...sounds awesome...I agree with it being fun for everyone... that's why this event is so "GREAT". I would like to part take and will help

I still have to figure out how to turn. Am I allowed to get out of the buggy, turn it around, and then do the return leg? :puzzled:
If not, I can wave a flag.WELDNGOD - 7-4-2012 at 06:49 PM

I am sure that we can make allowances, but a better solution would be for us to teach you how to tack before the race. Will you be available Thursday
for a lesson?buggydanny - 9-4-2012 at 06:47 AM
Bruce, Scott, Rich, and Donnie glad you want to give it a go. I know it will be fun. I am sure that other will join in too.
Dave your help will be greatly appreciated. Do you think that Cameron want to join in?ragden - 9-4-2012 at 06:53 AM
I might be able to be convinced to join in on this. However, if I"m doing a run past the rollercoaster at the time... well.. dont wait for me...
I can see setting something like this up for a run between the fishing pier and the convention center. That would make it far enough away from home
base that people just getting started wont get caught in the mess... Or you could do it from home base to the fishing pier... That might work too..
Those are both good, fast stretches, generally.
My question would be starting. Is this starting from the kite being on the ground? Or would this be sitting in the buggy with the kite overhead
waiting for your team member to cross the line? Just curious how you saw doing that...buggydanny - 9-4-2012 at 07:38 AM
Michael
Course selection will be dependent on wind direction and a free beach area. It will be decided on the day of the race. Since this is our first foray
into racing I want to keep the course short and not take up a lot of every ones time. I would rather have multiple heats and not a single long race.
There will be a pilots meeting before the race to go over all the rules and answer any questions.
Kite will be starting in the air overhead at the start of the race and as long as you are next up you can have your kite in the air and overhead
also. The next rider can go as soon as the previous rider crosses the start/finish line. Equipment sharing is permitted and a hand off can take place
to the next rider beyond the start/finish line.rocfighter - 9-4-2012 at 05:10 PM
I'm sure Cameron will be more than happy to help out.buggydanny - 17-4-2012 at 02:06 PM
Anybody have any orange safety cones that they could bring to the bash and use for course markers?
I have one or two somewhere, but don't think that I have the room in my car for them.WELDNGOD - 17-4-2012 at 05:30 PM
Hmmmm. Wonder which Combat I'm gonna use......:wee:snowspider - 18-4-2012 at 05:46 AM
Danny you and WG can each be your own team. First leg ,ride the front buggy of the tandem , second leg you guys sit in the back of your tandem , the
buggys empty and you fly from the back ,no front driver. Or maybe this can be a special feature race.
I'll be racing the newly refurbished black and yellow. WBB is so much fun!MikeDobbs - 18-4-2012 at 07:02 AM
