Wildwood Dunes!

WELDNGOD - 23-4-2012 at 05:31 PM

Here https://vimeo.com/40905594 is a vid from WWBB 12. Sorry it is so blurry, the sea scum was building on it from all the trips down to the amusement park and back. Wish I would have found these dunes sooner. They were a blast!:wee::wee::wee:

Got me some air @ 0:40

Enjoy!

nice... bummer it was so blurry... couple kiters crossed your path... cant really tell who they were...
;)

we need a stationary camera set up in the dunes to capture people bouncing along in there... that would be funny to watch...
:)

WELDNGOD - 23-4-2012 at 05:53 PM

The helmet cam had been up and down the beach for a while. I should have checked it,but I was having too much fun!

PHREERIDER - 23-4-2012 at 05:53 PM

Todd - 23-4-2012 at 08:44 PM

That was sweet... Haven't see the dunes like that since about 06. Great video D!

bigkid - 23-4-2012 at 09:28 PM

I liked everything about this vid,
Wasn't anything I didn't like. Except one thing. I wasn't there. Next year,

Simple pleasures of life, Wind, Sand, Kite, Buggy, you got it all.:bigok:

rocfighter - 24-4-2012 at 04:40 AM

Great times man.:wee: And that kite runs up wind sweet! I'm glad you left the origanal sounds in too.

shehatesmyhobbies - 24-4-2012 at 07:35 AM

Great stuff, can't believe that buggy got airborne!

I'm thinking "Purple Haze" may have been a better tune to go with the fuzziness!

buggydanny - 24-4-2012 at 07:45 AM

Great video donnie. Keep them coming, I know you have a lot more footage.

(EDIT: just noticed the "mascot" thread! ) ;-)

"couple kiters crossed your path... cant really tell who they were..."

Anyone see that woman's obnoxious dog at the dunes that was chasing everyone down?

That little mutt was tireless! I was laughing at him 'cause he'd start out at me and I was powered up enuf all day to smoke him!
But Rocfighter was telling me he can sometimes head you off, so I always turned if I saw him ahead of me.

He did pretty well considering he was sprinting over dunes and soft sand.

==================

Reminds me of another time I saw a little dog at the beach with clueless owners.
It was a small, low, (and very male) dachshund. Poor lil' guy couldn't walk around without, um, "plowing" himself thru the abrasive sand...must'a been one sore "wiener" dog there!
ooOUCHhh! :shocked2:

Awesome footage , my brother get some of this action on his camera ...... I will post it when I am back from a trip

Bladerunner - 25-4-2012 at 04:52 PM

Notice how completely different fellow PKD rider Jantie holds his handle and controls his kite !

I used to fly your style but find this to be a far superior method. Kiteguru is somebody near you who's kite handling I admire. Very similar to Jantie.

Todd - 25-4-2012 at 05:46 PM

This is a little out of place Ken don't you think? Not even a comment on the video but just your far superior method :puzzled:

Bladerunner - 25-4-2012 at 06:28 PM

Sorry if it read that way. NOT MY superior method. Jantie's ( and Kiteguru )

As I mentioned I flew exactly like that until I saw the Dutch and how they fly. It was a real eye opener.

I only aspire to fly 1/2 as well as Jantie. I hope I don't ever come off as trying to be superior. I seem stuck at mediocre and claim no more! I saw a perfect example to show the different styles back to back. I am actually still transitioning to this style and find it hard to give up my old ways, as much as that's worth ? They truly are very different and not a lot of North Americans have seen this superior IMHO method of kite control. Try it, you'll like it !

I had no intention of this coming off as a knock against WG or his video? Nice video and great shots of how you handle the kite WG ! ( I guess I thought that part was a given )

Have I got some vid to post now LOL I darn near pulled my bad arm off with a 6m combat, had to hang on to the other power leader to ease the pull on my shoulder. Which left me tweaking the kite by brakes.Got all the way back to camp and put that beast away. Didn't have strop on due to loaning my harness to Mike. Got smart after a while and went and found my hotwire rig:wee: I will find that vid after work

It's all good Ken! Jantie is one of my heroes! I am flying kind of a hybrid style. But the PKD handles will make you fly like that. The strop is built in ,and short . Compared to what use anyway. But when I fly with them I have to use the brakes ALOT

Should start a new post about this.

Sorry Donnie, like the vid, but had to speak up.
