80h of kiting in 12 days ….

Yes …. I did it …… 14 days of vacation with wind every day …… -2 days for driving ……..

….. All begin on April 11 when my car loaded with 17 kites , 3 kiteboards , buggy…… and many more kite related items was waiting for me outside my home for 1600 mile journey ……..
…. I also manage to fit 4 cases of polish beer and cooler full of cold cuts and kielbasa to minimize need to go anywhere except kite beach …….

I arrive in Wildwood a bit too late for a session …. so after few beers with ECKS crew I decide to get some rest to be ready for next day …..

WBB was a blast ……. with few light wind days and perfect on shore 20mph wind on Saturday I got plenty time on buggy ……. sadly my KiteTrike broke …. but my Canadian friends Claude and Stephan have theirs spares that I was welcome to use ….. Thanks guys !!!!!!
…… I finally did kite loops when riding buggy …… down loops when turning around……. ride dunes that appear from nowhere right next to the hard pack …….. get to ride tandem set up as a pilot ….. teach my brother basics of kitebuggy ….. and most important ….. meet all my kite friends once again …….
… I get chance to ride my Gin Yeti kites …… every size in same day …… starting with 13m in morning and end up with 4.5m riding dunes ……. I love my 4.5 ,,,,,,, Its so much fun when you can zip around like that …….
BBQ night make everyone closer again …… meeting new people and chat with regulars …. lol …..

…….. Sunday morning …… time to pack and drive South …. to OBX ….
I let my brother and Jaymz take most of my landkiting gear back to North NJ and kept only Gin Zulus, X19 and kiteboards …… that make my car so much roomier …..

By end of day I arrive at kite house in Avon NC…… unpack and introduce my self to kiters that rent other rooms …… 2 canadians, girl from DC, guy from Delaware and Kite Club Hatteras crew

Monday ….. kiteboarding adventure started with my first ever downwinder …

Everyday ………. I repeat ….. everyday was a kiteable day …… I never have chance to kite with my X19 …… most of time I use 9 and 13m Gin Zulu III and few times 11m Zulu II…..
….. we get up 7 am for morning session …… then break for beer and food……. and another session afternoon …….
…. downwinders ,,,,, one after another …… some mellow …… some scary ….. all in awesome companion … Thanks to Christo and ChrisHQ for guidance
Shallow flat water everywhere you look on sound side and waves on ocean side …… I did 3 sessions on waves and every one of those was a bit much for me …… I will stick to flats for now ……
I got chance to learn how to ride my race board, did hundreds of jumps, toe side, power transitions …… all its way easier when you know that after crash you can stand up and walk back to get you board …….

After one week of fun with Kite Club Hatteras ….. I get to stay another 3 days with Masskiting crew….. those guys are crazy ….. Imagine group of 100 kiters coming to the beach and seeing up their kites at same time …. That did look like invasion …… Party every night….. high end kite houses loaded with goodies …. and everyone so friendly …..
Thanks for letting me be part of you crew for few days …..

I did not want to go home …… It was so hard to pack and drive 10h back to NJ …… I know now what that big noise about OBX is all about …… I think …. I will go back there …… this year …… hopefully …..

Awesome! I hated packing up last year at jibe... It was like I was leaving home.

Thanks for sharing the stoke! Bah friday cant come soon enough!

Can't wait to see the movie Konrad. Thanks for sharing your Polish beer.

A week kiteboarding on the Outer Banks is like a week of buggying on Ivanpah: You'll learn more skills in a week than you will all year anywhere else.

Your skills in the surf will grow. It can be a lot more intimidating than flat water. Currents, waves, <gulp> sharks. You must remain in the moment at all times. It took me a couple seasons before I felt any confidence.

Come back to OBX soon!
