My kite has a small fold...

Mastertoot - 10-5-2012 at 02:35 PM

Hey.

I've noticed recently that my 4m Flow has a small sort of fold on the left side of the trailing edge when flying. I've attached a pic where you can see it. It doesn't seem to fly any different. Is this to be expected or is something wrong with my kite? My two metre doesn't do the same thing.

Thanks very much.

Check the bridals where the fold is.
That doesn't look right!

Thanks. I've had a look ad there doesn't seem to be anything wrong. None are twisted or anything.

looks to be one of the brake lines are not the same as the other side. check each brake line at the kite out to the second connection with the other side, they should be identical.

Yes . I am almost certian you will find something wrong with that one bridle line. It should match the correct one. Probably has a knot in it ?

Bridle line, if it's new send it back, factory fault for sure

awindofchange - 12-5-2012 at 12:34 AM

Definitely something wrong with the bridles or interior of the kite. The bridle lines should be exact from the right side to the left. You can measure each one, one at a time and compare them with the other side, I am sure you will find one at fault.

If it is new or semi new, the factory will stand by the kite and you should be able to return it for repair or replacement. The Flow has been discontinued so I wouldn't wait to long to contact the dealer you purchased it from.

Thanks very much for all your replies. I can't seem to find a problem with the bridles or lines but i've not measured them yet so will try that tonight. It still seems to fly okay but i'd rather get it sorted quickly - i do like my 4m Flow allot! Poor old 2m has had about 20 minutes if air time so far!

you don't actually need to measure with a ruler - just fold the kite in half and at the point where the tuck is hold the corresponding left and right bridle segments together to see if one is shorter than the other.

Bladerunner - 12-5-2012 at 12:18 PM

Kiteboyza is right. If this is new it should be covered.

Ozone has pretty good quality control. I still think you may find a knot in that line ?

Thanks allot. I've had the kite out and fully inspected it, i can't see anything wrong at all. Some pictures my gf took didn't have the fold on but i can see it most of the time, it looks different from underneath the kite. You can see it a bit in this video:-

I'm going to take it into the shop as its only a few weeks old. I'm sure all will be well, i've bought all my skating and power kiting equipment there for a while now.

Take that picture you posted in and show him. That shows what your problem is pretty clearly.
Ozone is a good company. You are in good hands.

Yeah...well....uh.....I wouldn't use that vid as evidence! They will be laughing so much you will turn around and leave! That was really funny! The music at first was ridiculous but then I realized it was me who was wrong it was perfect!

And what the hell is with the launch technique?! When you pulled that hard I thought you were going to send that kite right over your head and have it land behind you!:shocked2:

Hey, as long as you are having fun do what makes you happy- hope you get the fold issue resolved- has to be the bridle.

hahah, thanks. I think that was my second time, i'm a little bit more graceful nowadays. I'm about to my 4m out again to see how it goes, if its the same then its back to the shop next weekend, shame but i'm sure they'll sort it out! Thanks for replying, oh and the music is Intergalactive Laxative by Donovan, i thought it suited my ineptitude at flying on that day!

id say triple check the all of your connecting bridal lines. the smallest twist or twig will do this to a kite... :dunno:
