Looking for input, I am hopefully getting a 2009 12m ocean rodeo rise(ko) soon and am wondering if I have to get an ocean rodeo bar, or any bar? Also,

You don't HAVE to ... but set your mind at ease - all the safety functions will work as they should and the bar is tuned to match the kite.

I have the same 09 12M and it is my go to kite. I like it better than the newer models because it has a center strut. The Rise comes with kook proof
pigtails that go on the back lines (not the bridle lines). If you have these then you can use a bar that is front lines and back lines the same
length. The kite is designed for both front line safety. I have the 2010 SLE 3.0 bar and like it. The below the bar trim can be a bit of pain to

Sometimes you mix-and-match because you don't like the original bar and lines or didn't have total faith in it.
In some cases, it is the exact opposite of "stingying out".
