I'm gonna be in hua hin Thailand for a month, does anybody know if thee is good hard pack to ride on?
Sam have you done any research on the area?
I know its kitesurfing country but I'm taking all of my landboarding gear.

There are 130 reviews and 90 pictures of the beach here:

Kamikuza spent spring break there, but it sounded like he was mostly on the water.
From the reviews, it sounds like you will be competing with tourists with sun umbrellas, beached jellyfish, and horses. Depending on the section of
beach it sounds like there might be some issues with trash/debris.

It's a pretty big beach though! You *might* be able to get some riding on it at low tide, but it's 'short' - from water to trees, houses etc there
wouldn't be enough room for kiting.
A taxi ride down the road to Pran Buri and another long beach there ... same story I think but much fewer tourists.
Get on the water instead

Yeah I know but my inlaws live there so I'm spending the month there. The wife says she remembers a beach with lots of hard pack. Taking the 15
matrixx with me,so I'm hoping for at least 12mph winds. Fingers are crossed. I thought I'd regret it if I didn't bring the gear with me
Kamikuza - 3-6-2012 at 01:36 AM
True that - you'll always want it if it's not there ...!
Is the 15 your biggest kite?
Kamikuza - 3-6-2012 at 01:40 AM
Ackshully ... that beach may be ok ...

Yeah 15m is the largest. I figured being there a month I'd have at least one chance to ride

Thailand is nice, I'm jealous. Bringing the kites shouldn't be a problem, so long as you don't mind lugging the heavy stuff throughout the ~28 hours
of travel time… The security in Asia is much more efficient than our own, it isn't nearly as oppressive. Just be mindful as usual that not everybody
knows what the hell some of your stuff is… the good news is, they're (for the most part) good with English over there.
Have fun

I'm not worried. My wife grew up there and speaks Thai
Kamikuza - 3-6-2012 at 05:32 PM
Yeah deffo take your gear - at least as an excuse to run away from the in-laws for a few hours "looking for a kite spot" :D
