check it out on google maps

Now for the interesting part.
This field is actually part of Fort Belvior and I dont know if we can fly here, Ive never tried. Festivals and soccer games are held there all the time so we may be able to fly there. I dont know who to talk to though. so I was wondering if there is anyone in the military stationed on fort belvior who could find out and talk to someone about being able to use the field.
This would be a great place to fly. It is the biggest recreational field i have ever seen in northern virginia. The only thing I think i could compare it to is the wasshington monument grounds as far as size goes.

I think if you start with the Fort Belvoir Public Affairs Office, and be willing to offer to help some interested soldiers learn a fun and relaxing sport, it would go along way to your success. Here is a link to the office. http://www.belvoir.army.mil/communityrelations.asp
Let us know how you make out, and good luck!

Great post Bob with info  I was about to mention the same thing. When you speak with a person about this you may mention that I have been given permission to enjoy our sport on both Solomon's Annex and Patuxent River NAS. Stress the green side of the sport and you should do well. Let me know if I can help out as well.

So I just talked with the outdoor recreation center at Ft Belvoir and he told me that there are no rules against kiting on the field so I am hoping to be able to fly there. If this works out it could be the best place to fly in the DC metro area. As I have said before, the only field that I know of that is close to the same size as this one is the Washington monument grounds and i think the monument grounds is smaller.

It went alright. there were some turbulence issues but not terrible like alot of other places.
