This.... or That....?

cheezycheese - 8-6-2012 at 03:19 PM

I have a dilemma.... I wanna buy a new toy (non-Kite related)
but I can't justify spending the money as it's a case of WANT vs. need.... But, perhaps if I were to make a sacrifice the wife wont kick my butt...
Sooooo, the question is.....

This

or these...

two passions, one wallet... these don't come by often. Don't have the cash on hand. And the mention of touching my 401k
for this will bring the fury...:megan:

I knew I was asking the wrong group of friends... (or maybe this IS what I need to hear) I'm soooo confused :dunno::dunno::dunno::dunno: plus I just drove the car so I'm all hyped up on goofballs... :puzzled:

My answer is not going to be popular by a mile, but I have to ask one question. How does your wife feel about your kite life? When I ask that question, it is also asking how does she respond, what does she say when she responds, and how does she act after she responds.
If she is anything like me wife, to score the biggest points possible, sell the kites.

Or get some therapy for the want disease. hahahahahaha, my appointment is at 10:00, yours?.

My kiting activities are looked upon with great disdain....:no:

Run this one by the missus.....

Kites - just add wind

Beamers - Just add gas. And Oil. And coolant. And AC refrigerant. And emissions. And space in the drive. And maybe oil drips on the cement.

HQ Beamers are the only exception to the rule.

Scudley - 8-6-2012 at 05:00 PM

Why buy someone else's head ache? Don't do it!
If you only have one wallet, keep the kites. Am old beamer can suck all the money out of two wallets. When all that German over engineered (insert word) starts to go, it is not pretty. Save your money for kites.

She doesn't want the car either. I do. I just think it will be an easier pill to swallow if I buy it with kite money rather than savings... :ticking:

shehatesmyhobbies - 8-6-2012 at 05:09 PM

Well I say don't sell the kites as well! I know, I am a car nut as well, but I still would not sell my kites to buy a car! The BMW will get you tickets, the kite buggy most likely won't! ;) All kidding aside, if you weigh your wants in one hand and your kites in the other, which one is leaning towards more happiness! The car will be fun for a while, the kites will be fun forever! (as long as you keep them out of the drink!)

Don't envy your having to make this kind of decision!

cheezycheese - 8-6-2012 at 05:31 PM

BMW: Buy Motor Weekly.

I like BMW, a LOT. The company I work for has a BMW dealership and I could have got one when I got my Rav4 for not much more than I am paying monthly. The issue I found was the cost to maintain a BMW. Yikes! Just food for thought :)

rocfighter - 9-6-2012 at 05:31 AM

Mark Sandy was looking at a BMW when she was thinking about a new car. The yearly upkeep was damn near equal to the payments. At least on a new one. Dealer needs to do every thing for the warranty. (or so the thieves told us) So for 1/3 the cost she bought a brand new car that gets 38mpg on average and was $13,500 out the door. Stick that in your phanny and fly it:frog: Oh that sounds soo wrong!!
Oh by the way if you go ahead and step on the third rail and buy the car I want your 6!!

WELDNGOD - 9-6-2012 at 05:37 AM

For a Beamer! No way! A Z06 Corvette or aCTS-V ,maybe..... But a dang Beamer!

Cash flow stagnent like no wind-

skimtwashington - 9-6-2012 at 10:53 AM

invest in what will bring the best return, if not hold it's value better.

Which will be in the shop for repair more?
which give more miles on less gas?

(It's a trick question...the Beam-mah comes filled with cool kites!)

:wee::wee:

rocfighter - 9-6-2012 at 11:04 AM

Brian are you filling the Beam-mah with the kites? All of your NPW's to go with the BMW??
OK Mark no one has asked so I will. How much is this new toy gonna cost you? And ask Chris how well sales are right now on Phannies. Will the BMW owner wait till you sell your kites or are you buying like oil shares, on speculation? I think the oil industry has shown us that speculation is a piss poor way of doing business. Unless you are the genius I think you are.
Buy the car on speculation of selling the kites for a close to price. Put the kites up for sale for a ridicules price knowing full well no one will buy them. And just let it sit with an locational BUMP to the top to make it look good.
Bet you wish you thought of it huh??

Couldn't have said it better myself...

rocfighter - 29-6-2012 at 06:39 PM

So Mark what did you do? I didn't see the kites for sale so you either changed your mind, or you hid the kites robbed a package store and said you sold them and bought the car.
Let us know!!!

soliver - 29-6-2012 at 08:17 PM

Here's a thought...

If you're willing to sell the phannies,... sell them

If you don't necessarily need the Beamer, and aren't sure if your REALLY want it, DON'T buy it.

My (and some other folks' i know) philosophy is "happy wife = happy life"

You can put your wife on your side by doing awesome stuff for her, I say sell the kites and buy something awesome for your wife. That way, next time something comes up like this, it may not be as big of a struggle. Especially if you are that much on the fence. Invest in your future, and be cool to wifey.

Not to say you're "buying her vote" next time, but it will show her that you care enough about her to sacrifice something (even 2 things in this case) for HER happiness. That kind of thing can go a long way.

That's just my 2 cents.

How does the honey badger feel???

cheezycheese - 29-6-2012 at 09:21 PM

Honey badger doesn't give a sh1t. Honey badger don't care. I got my car and my kites. My a55hole hurts a little but I won't talk about that....

And Spencer, wifey got a car for x-mas.... :frog:

Nice, reminds me of my midlife crisis, started in June 1975(a 63 Stingray)..........

soliver - 30-6-2012 at 07:22 AM

Nicely done,... all's well that ends well. Sweet ride.

Maybe one day when you're ready to sell those phannies, I'll be ready to buy one

rocfighter - 30-6-2012 at 10:47 AM

Won't you mess your hair up in that convertible? OH yeah!!
