Newport kite festival wants you. July 14-15

rocfighter - 22-6-2012 at 04:47 AM

We at the Newport Kite Fest are looking for kite fliers of all types and skill levels to out to beautiful Brenton Point State Park in Newport RI. We are looking for any one willing to help fill the sky with single line kites, or do demo's with duel line or quad line kites. Also Buggy and Land Board demo's are very welcome. Space is limited as those who have flown there know. But we are hoping to get the crowds wound up a little more this year with more exciting demo's.
If you do a demo we will give you a free pass into the festival. This will be a huge savings of err well nothing since it's free to get in. But I may have a hot dog or burger on the grill for you for dinner!! Look for the big ugly motorshed on the field and ask for me!!

Roc- I was hoping to head down before this "generous" offer was put out! I still don't know if my work schedule will allow but as it gets closer I'll let you know. Hoping to buggy if space allows- if not will get the kites a spinning!

Dave ,,, If there is no wind ... what are most visited attractions in Newport and surrounding area ???

rocfighter - 8-7-2012 at 05:05 AM

For no wind or rainy days (which by the way don't happen:lol:) There are a lot of sight seeing places. And if your interested in it the world tennis hall of fame is in Newport. Also they have the mansion tours of all the cool old mansions. And lots of shops and sailing (which also sucks with no wind and rainy days:flaming:) AND there will be lots of kiters to hang out with and tell stories aka lies!!!:frog:

indigo_wolf - 8-7-2012 at 11:43 AM

Aiden's Irish Pub is nearby in Bristol, RI

Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum

Audobon Society of Rhode Island List of Wildlife Refuges

Coggeshall Farm Museum

Herreshoff Marine Museum

RI Museum of Natural History and Planetarium

The bay area is peppered with farm stands along many of the backroads, many stock home made pies, regional sodas, and beer from micro breweries.

ATB,
Sam

As most of you have heard I am not going to make it to this event. I troubled health has taken turn to the bad side. I know I'll be ok but I am working with a great team of Drs and I am sure they will get it all worked out. But for now no driving and I need to stay local so they can do there jobs.
Have a great time and I expect to see lots of pictures and videos.

Konrad sorry I didn't see you. I also missed Chris. I'm glad you came and I hope you had a good time. I was there for a while on Sunday. But I was mostly sitting in chairs in the shade. I was tired when I got there, and sound asleep on the way home. The only PKF member I saw was Pauly doublespeed360. And Dave who is a local.
I'm looking forward to your photos and videos. I hope you got to meet my buddy Jason. He is a nut on that land board.
Dave.
