Complete newbie

Hey guys

I hope this is the right place to post this if not just let me know

I'm going to sound like a complete newbie, because I am! But I'm just looking for some advice.

I've flown a friends 4.9m flexifoil blade kite a few times and he also had a 3m kite. I get on well with both. Im looking at buying a kite myself, using it recreationally and probably wont be jumping into a buggy or onto a board with a kite anytime soon so what would you guys recommend for a starter powerkite? How does size matter?

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure about your friends judgement. Giving you a blade. Well anyways if you were able to handle it then maybe he has good judgement. We usually recommend 2-3m kites for a first timer. Ozone Flows HQ Hornets and PKD Buster S oulfly. All good beginner kites. With some experiance a 4m would be a good start.

If you are in States, I would give serious consideration to the Ozone Flow 3.0M being sold here. Very good price for a great kite that's NIB RTF kite and the price includes shipping.

Generally the features to look for in a new kite are

Thanks for the input guys, I'm in the UK, but Im thinking about something between a 3 and 5. His 4.9 was nice to fly and yeah I picked it up pretty quickly, I know its different but I used to fly stunt kites pretty often.

it seems like a bit of a minefield - so many kites to choose from! Ill have to look for a bargain!

I'm a newb to, but have had experience with the Tensor 5.0(I'm big bonedish) for a couple months and found it great to start with. The convertible bar/handles is handy and is ready to go out of the bag. It flies from near zero winds to ?, you be the judge, can generate great power and will work for landboarding. I've had my 100lb daughter fly it too, so varys with wind speed. Was great to learn with and get started boarding with, simple and durable.
