Welcome aboard!!!

I hear most people on this forum are North American (Canadian or fr. the U.S.), but I know several are from your neck of the woods as well.

This is a really awesome forum. I've only been kiting (and on this forum) a little under a year and have found that the guys here on this forum are all a great bunch,... so welcome to the funny farm!!!

Another Aussie, there will be a few of us heading this way. Hope you're still giving those vapors a workout.

Welcome.

Tell us about you primo spot!

DemBones - 27-6-2012 at 09:27 PM

Are you getting wind at the moment?

We aren't getting wind in Perth during the winter, and when we do it comes with rain.

soliver - 27-6-2012 at 09:30 PM

Is that the same dry lake bed that Gumnuts rides?

I've checked out his blog before, and that lake bed looks SWEEEEEET!

DJ, are you flying a PL Core in that first video? or is that a Reactor?

Gum-nuts flys at Lake Walyungup, just out of Perth. IIAIC those video are at Lake Lefroy, which is near Kalgoorlie a long way inland from Perth (about 700km away).

Walyungup is a good spot, but Lefroy is HUGE.

Question DJ
You have any idea why Joel take the forum offline ?

Love the white buggy spot you got out there . To bad its on the other side of the world for me :( ( I say" I can buggy where ever I like ".... "but you need to home in time for dinner " my wife says )

Have Fun

And one of these days I am gonna drive across to WA and have a buggy on Lake Lefroy with the 'locals'.

Kamikuza - 28-6-2012 at 01:05 AM

G'day mate! And wulcum :)

DJ_sylk - 28-6-2012 at 01:29 AM

@ Solver: Its an Ozone Octane 4m.
@ DemBones: year plenty of wind mid week but none on the weekends for about 4-5 weeks now, time to take an RDO

soliver - 28-6-2012 at 10:55 AM

OOPS! I meant the second video,... that one looks like a Core,... my bad.

But speaking of the Ozone Octane, you're the first person I've seen with one, what are your thoughts? How does that Octane fare in the buggy? Does it do well going upwind?

DJ_sylk - 28-6-2012 at 04:33 PM

The kite in the second vid is a Vapor 5.4 pre production model.

I bought the octane mainly as a beginer/intemediate kite to help introduce friends to the sport, for which it is perfect. In that first vid with a 20-23kmh wind i recorded a personal best speed of 64.5kmh. But that's driving on salt that is as hard as concrete. I tried driving on grass in a similar wind and couldn't even get moving.

Todd - 28-6-2012 at 05:10 PM

I enjoy checking up on you guys at Extreme but you are always welcome here as well. Hope to make over there one day to ride with the Brothers of the wind.

soliver - 28-6-2012 at 05:43 PM

Cool thanks,... never seen a pre production vapor... nifty.

Forecast to be a max of 5knots this weekend. :megan::mad:

DemBones - 11-7-2012 at 06:43 AM

XK Still down, no buggying for a couple of months now, so here is a video from earlier.

Gum-nuts is flying the Core
I am flying the zebra underpowered (well it is only 1.5m2 after all), then the Flow 3m nicely powered. Second time out in the buggy.

The second part is a 4.4m Reactor II in very light winds, my first time flying that kite.

gumnuts - 14-7-2012 at 03:45 PM

Extreme kites is back on-line now but still like to check what's going on here. Some of us Perth buggers are hoping to make the trip to lake Lefroy in October, spring for us!

The wind is still shocking here, as in non existent unless it is raining! Really frustrating as I have a new vapor I want to try!

My PB is captured in that video of DemBones!

It sounded like he pressed the wrong key when backing up data or something and it all disappeared! It's back now!
