In September of 2009 I started begging my wife to let me get my first kite. by the end of that month I had my 2010 6m ozone access on order. Less than
a month later I found a 3.5m ozone imp 3-lined trainer for sale in town for $150. I used that to keep me occupied while I waited for my access to
arrive. Almost a month or something like that later my Pink Access (originally wanted blue I think) came in the mail. I seem to remember wondering
whether or not I would survive my first year or two without getting seriously injured. Almost three years now and only a few small bumps and scrapes
from falling. (Knocks on wood)

My question is how many flight hours? I fly roughly six months out of the year so even though I've been flying nearly 12 yrs, technically it would be
6 years. But at the same time a short session for me is 3-4 hours and most sessions are 6-8 hrs and I'm lucky enough to get about 3-4 sessions in each
week in that 6 month stretch. Last season I got about 20 hrs a week in so I guess it kinda evens out?Kamikuza - 2-7-2012 at 05:20 AM
Started out on home-made 2-line stunt kites in the '90s but they don't count as power kites ... until I stacked them
Got my Rebble 5.0 in 2002-ish ... maybe 2003. Got a photo of me pumping up a kite with a hand-pump at my first lessons from around that time ... got
into the landboarding very slowly then eventually got onto the water (the original plan) in 2010. Maybe ... man I can't remember the details
Who is this slightly fat guy with all the hair?

Been flying kites most of my life. I got into traction kites mostly bey accident. Haven't looked back. Though I do still enjoy doing large show kite
displays now and then. I have them might as well use them!!:wee:flyguy0101 - 2-7-2012 at 06:14 AM
started flying revs in 1992- but really got the power kite bug when i picked up Angus's wide tire flexi in 2007, buggied on and off til 2010 then
really started riding land boards and depower full time and have not looked back. Unfortuntaly i live in the worst wind area possible so only get 5-6
kite trips a year which usually result in a couple of really good days each trip. Will be getting on the water this summer- Andrew has already beat
me and went kite surfing with my brother last week at Hatteras. Took him aout 30 minutes to figure out how to get up and then he and Eric did a 2
mile downwinder.

In the early 80s I stacked two Team Hawaiians and took an old pair of water skiis and had an idea I could ski on the sand.
It did not work out too well but I sure had fun trying it.flyjump - 2-7-2012 at 08:20 PM

Interesting how long folks have been at this.
Can't rate myself as anything more than a beginning, but having fantasised (sp?) about flying for 20 some years I finally started paragliding a couple
years ago and then got started with powerkites (not many hills to go off of in middle Iowa) last year.
Still learning and appreciate the info that folks share on PKF.
