Well now that summer is here and I am ready to take on the water, no wind in sight! It has been so hot, the only wind that we get is associated with
huge storms behind it! Most of the time the wind is 0 gusting to 3mph! Just going stir crazy waiting for some rideable winds! I don't care if it is in
the buggy, on a landboard, or on the water, I just want to ride. I may have to take a trip soon to find some winds!
:wee:
How is the wind in your area?????beachrights - 11-7-2012 at 05:26 PM
Same here up on The Cape! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET IN A 2 HR PRIVATE LESSON ON THE WATER SINCE JUNE 4TH!!! No wind! Or its coming the wrong
direction. Tonight there was good wind......and 50 tourists on my beach!StebbimacDaddy - 11-7-2012 at 08:17 PM
Beachrights, where on the cape do you usually fly? Who are you taking water lessons with? And yes, the wind and the crowds have been pretty crappy
here, especially for a newbie like me.erratic winds - 11-7-2012 at 08:27 PM
Been a lovely 0-3 here as well, with the occasional "100+ for a week followed by several days of rain"beachrights - 12-7-2012 at 04:48 AM
StebbimacDaddy- I fly on land at either Craigville Beach [3 miles from my house but crowded during summer-have to wait till 7 pm and never on the
weekends] thats for static. Buggy at mayflower beach in Dennis. And hopefully water at Chapin Beach in Dennis and Kalmus in Hyannis.
I am taking lessons with funseekers.org - local private company that does kiteboarding, surfing, SUP and Paddleboard.
Where are you located? It does not state in yoursig post.martinipro - 12-7-2012 at 05:34 AM
With Jaymz and Kober we have been out in the water maybe 1- 2 times a week.
Winds have been pretty light 6-15mph, but enough for our 19m foils.
The plus is that since I am just starting we have the whole bay to ourselves, making it less scary and easier to learn.
Our "local" beach is about 2 hours north of Wildwood though.(Sandy Hook)flyguy0101 - 12-7-2012 at 05:47 AM
No wind in the mtns of virginia other then the tease before a storm so will be heading south soon for my kiting fix

Same story here, I'm lucky if winds are breaking the 10mph mark. Hot and humid here with temps tickling 90 degrees F, I'm already having kiting
withdrawalsStebbimacDaddy - 12-7-2012 at 03:27 PM
Beachrights I'm about two miles from Seagull beach in Yarmouth. I've only just begun to fly this spring. All static so far at Seagull and smugglers
beaches in Yarmouth and a few times on the tidal flats at the end of chapin beach in Dennis. Not quite ready for water yet, but I'm pretty sure I'll
spend time there eventually.
Is one of your kites yellow? I may have seen you a month
Or two ago on Mayflower as I was flying stunt kites on chapin. Would love to meet up sometime and fly with somebody with more experience. Are you
going to Newport this weekend? I'm looking forward to my first kite event, it would be cool to meet you if you are there.OmniSmurfZ - 12-7-2012 at 03:36 PM
Same here... Been really bad =/. The one time I got out to fly the net said it was 13 mph. I was with the 13m VII and was insanely overpowered so it
was lieing by a lot!beachrights - 12-7-2012 at 07:59 PM
StebbimacDaddy - Yup might have been me- last time I was there was about a month ago and my Pansh is yellow. Again- crappy winds!
Unfortunately can't make it to newport- I am going to upstate NY a week from Friday so I am working this weekend. However, since we are so close we
really should meet up- I am in centerville.Jaymz - 12-7-2012 at 09:35 PM
We're lucky the wind predictions have been WRONG lately. They say 8-10mph and we're riding 15-20... like today beachrights - 13-7-2012 at 12:09 PM

Same for me here,... only the weather man lies to me!!! The forecast will predict a 9-10mph wind (which is plenty for me) and it turns out to be
0-5mph. Not to mention that the wind direction around here can change almost 180 degrees (REALLY frustrating) and its hot as blue blazes
I went to the park Saturday to ride on a 9-10mph prediction and spent most of the time sitting and waiting for a puff... I only got 1 good run back
and forth probably about 150 ft on a hard breeze that came up right before a summer shower that soaked my 5m Core... DRAT!!!

Some get the winter blues, but I've got the summer blues. If I had any say in the matter it would be winter with lots of snow all the time. Everyone
wants summer so they can play in the sun, but not this guy. -10c, snow, and wind makes me a happy person (except those conditions usually are when I'm
working and can't enjoy it.). You can always put on warmer clothing to stay warm. Once you have all your clothing off theres nothing else to cool you.BEC - 14-7-2012 at 05:48 AM
I got some wind for you Rich....too bad you'll need that 20 meter kite Weldngod had at WW to fly it. :moon:
Hope you're enjoying the summer anyway...I'm just waiting for fall to get here.gumnuts - 16-7-2012 at 03:22 AM
It's winter down-under and it's the same here, dry and bright most of the time which means no wind. The wind starts to blow and then is quickly
followed by the rain, it drys up and the wind disappears!
Then on the odd occasion there looks the slightest breeze and no rain, I am working or it's a northerly or southerly and is no good for the sites
available at present!
Roll on spring and the return of the morning easterly and afternoon westerlies! I'm always wishing my life away...shehatesmyhobbies - 16-7-2012 at 03:39 AM
Shaggs, Im with you. Summer is just not my season. I would much rather have March and October all year round. Best winds usually and temps that are
easy to handle. Forecast for yesterday was SE 10-15, actual winds 0-5 with occasional gust to 10. Another day skunked!shehatesmyhobbies - 16-7-2012 at 03:40 AM
Oh forgot to mention another three days if near 100 degrees coming right at us herw in Delaware.abkayak - 16-7-2012 at 06:34 AM
Yea.... experienced that first hand. Sorry we didn't meet up!! Ryan and I did, and have to thank him for being a great host. Showed me the local
launches and pointed me in the right direction, got in some matter of principle flying.
Fantastic destination.... would love to see it when it's blowing harder. I ran back to Long Island late sat nite. was treated to steady 15mph sun
afternoon soooo... fun w/ atb & low tide. Hope to host you guys sometime up here!
