So i bought an Ozone Imp off of fleabay for my GF to mess around with; the seller claimed it was a 2.5 meter kite, but it has no size designator on it
anywhere. It is 90 inches long, 30 inches wide in the center and the wingtips are about 12 inches. It carries it's width for quite a ways before
tapering down. I havent looked at that many other small kites, but to me it seems like it would be closer to a 3 meter. Anyone know of a good way
to figure out the size with reasonable accuracy?
BTW, Like all Ozones, it is a well made kite and flies beautifully although it is a bit slow, which is to be expected for a trainer kite. The price
was right though
Thanks!

post a pic. I bet from that someone can just tell you what it is.indigo_wolf - 24-7-2012 at 05:13 PM
90 inches = 2286 mm...
Imp 2.5 has a flat span of 2869 mm (112.95 inches)
Make sure that the kite is completely flat, extended and that you are measuring at the widest part.
Unless it is an older Imp or the printing is worn off, the size should be printed out toward one of the wingtips.
More recent Imp, at wingtip on the top of canopy.
Older Imp.... at wingtip on the belly of the canopy.
Might help to identify what year Imp you bought.
FWIW: Kite width is usually measured wingtip to wingtip and canopy. Leading edge to trailing edge distance is usually referred to as height.

No size is printed on it that i can see. Based on your width specs you posted, i'm wondering if it could be a 1.5? Seems too large to be that size.
Are those specs for the current models? Seems a lot larger than my old slingshot B-2. Fun little kite at any rate, but i think my GF will get bored
with it for just just static flying.pongnut - 25-7-2012 at 03:28 PM
Ozone IMP Quattro 1.5 has span of 2.21 meters (87") and cord of .85 (33.5")

All of the IMP's were clearly marked except for the very first generation ones. Those were marked as S, M and L. S = Small which was 1.0 meter,
M=Medium which was 1.5 meter and the L=Large which was 2.0 Meters. The marking was on the bag and the kite. The 2.5 Meter IMP did not come out till
the later models.kiteyakker - 26-7-2012 at 10:10 AM
Well, i looked at the markings on it and there is nothing that i can see denoting the size. Nothing on the bag either. If it's an older one, it has
been used very little, material is still crispy and bar and lines are in very good shape as is the bag. Heres one other clue; the safety wrist leash
lanyard is woven right into the leader line on the left side of the bar. I couldn't remove it if i wanted to, unless i cut it off.
Guess it's time to post some pics.
And the mystery continues....:dunno:sunset-Jim - 26-7-2012 at 10:32 AM

If it came with a Bar, I would be somewhat suspicious. I don't recall any dual line IMP's being available with a control bar, they all had straps.
Ozone has always been very proud of their name and every bar, kite and stuff sack/bag/backpack had the Ozone name and logo on it, even their straps
and kite killers/safety leashes had a very nice Ozone logo on them. You could purchase the Ozone two line bar as an option though, that may be what
you have.
I have a 1.5 IMP here on display, I could get a measurement on it if you need....but it sounds like you may have a 1.0 meter, not a 2.5 meter.kiteyakker - 26-7-2012 at 03:36 PM
Ok i remeasured it with it stretched tight, its more like 93x 34. It has the Ozone logo and "Imp" on the underside of the canopy and on the bag,
nothing on the top side of the canopy. It does look like there is an "L" in the lower right corner of the logo.
