17 days (8 more 12 hour shifts) till play time!

jellis - 15-8-2012 at 05:17 PM

Thanks Sean, great times. This is our 10th year of fun at Sunset Beach and of course there always BUGGY CAMP.

peevee - 15-8-2012 at 09:11 PM

Are Mountain Boards welcome? I don't have a buggy yet. Only have a 5 meter and a board. I would love to board on the beach with some steady wind. I have been wanting to plan a trip there. Your event looks fun. Do you camp right at Sunset beach? Is it cool to come check out the buggies? Need some ideas to build one. Never seen one as I am about the only kitter around but the dry weat fields of Idaho seem like I could kite on. Are Newbies welcome?

csa_deadon - 16-8-2012 at 02:51 AM

Mountain Boards? Yea, we let mountain boards on the beach.
check out www.facebook.com/pages/Sunset-Beach-Bum-Buggy-Riders/1950304...
for updates.

As for camping, not on the beach there are critters (Sean and Eli) that will sneak up on you and take your beverages.
Most paople either stay at hotels/motels, the state park or at buggy camp.

See ya there.

Is there any were that rents buggys around sunset beach? I have a PL reactor 4.9 with handles and a seat harness. What is the chance of that kite size working for me at the coast?

ChrisH - 16-8-2012 at 12:09 PM

Your 4.9 will be perfect for Sunset Beach. The winds normally start out light in the morning and build throughout the day. By the 5 pm you'll want a smaller kite. Just come on out, you'll have a great time.

peevee - 16-8-2012 at 12:55 PM

Good to hear. My field is about 100 yards and the winds in August have been very gusty and not often. I think I would progress more in a weekend on the coast than all summer here. Plus me friend has never been to the coast. Looks like we will be headed that way.

Bladerunner - 16-8-2012 at 05:05 PM

You are absolutely right about the trip being a huge boost in your progresion.
The hard pack beaches and clean winds are ATB nirvana! There will be a good number of us there with boards.
I will be out on board, blades and buggy. The only time you wouldn't be welcome to my buggy is if we do a group run to the shipwreck. Eli, Jeff, Deiter and ??? will have demo gear there so trying different kites will be easy. Probably they will have a buggy for you as well? Be sure and try Jeff's Flexboards!

Camping in buggy camp is free but we always kick in to thank Phil for the land . It is dry camping. Lots of campgrounds around. A few of us Canadians will be at KOA.

WooPwOOp! :bouncy:

peevee - 16-8-2012 at 08:43 PM

When you say dry camp does that mean no alcohol?

buggeyed - 16-8-2012 at 09:20 PM

I think he means no showers or flush toilets. You can always use the showers at the state park for a couple of bucks.
There's always something to keep you hydrated at buggy camp.

csa_deadon - 16-8-2012 at 10:13 PM

showers at Fort stevens last year where $2.00 and open to the public at 9:00 am.

Did some one mention hydration?

Bladerunner - 17-8-2012 at 08:03 AM

Ha Ha,

Even the " Duck Farts " are alchohol fueled in buggy camp.

I am an OG and don't normally drink ( because I don't drink normally ). I really enjoy visiting buggy camp but like a family campground or hotel when it's time to sleep.

dirtslide - 17-8-2012 at 04:31 PM

Yes the three Kens all staying at the KOA ,this should cause some confusion for sure . cain't wait :wee::wee::wee:
