elfasa - 10-9-2012 at 02:18 AM

hey guys,
ive seen this auction on ebay, and in my opinion its craaaaazy cheap, im tempted to buy it, even if i end up selling half the stuff on (could make a tidy profit ? )

what do you think, is it really cheap, or am i mistaken ?

its 450 GBP, which works out at 720 USD, plus 75 GBP (119USD) postage

buy it without hestation !!! The buggy alone is close to $600 new. :bigok:

elfasa - 10-9-2012 at 04:53 AM

Really? im so tempted !
Could you / someone that is in the know tell me what the i could get if I were to sell the different bits of kit seperately ?

Thanks
Tim

cheezycheese - 10-9-2012 at 05:12 AM

The buggy would get you $300-400 alone over here. It is all kitted out with an official BuggyBags bag and bellypan. Probably $75 for the harness. $175-200 for the Twister. Unless you already have some of this stuff you should keep the lot as it is a One Stop buggy outfit at a deal thats hard to match.

elfasa - 10-9-2012 at 05:56 AM

Thanks.
I don't think i could afford to keep it all sadly :/ just finished uni, and am unemployed, with a limited bank balance. i would probably only keep a couple of the kites, and possibly the helmet. (im happy on my board at the moment !)

if i could keep what i wanted, and sell the rest for enough to break even i would be happy !

Shipping is something to factor in.

That is a lot of heavy stuff.

You could buy, sell and probably keep a couple of pieces but a with lot of hassle .

Amazing good deal for somebody who can pick it up! Basically selling the kit for the second hand value of the buggy.

jimbocz - 10-9-2012 at 06:50 AM

Let's do the math. Buggies are selling for nothing here at the moment. I'd guess a flexi bug like that will sell for about £200 if you are lucky. A basic model used to sell for £250 and be gone in a day, but that was before the recession.

Here's what you get and a very rough estimate of what I think it will sell for:

Flexifoil buggy plus added equipment £200

Power kite model Pansh 3 m2 £50

Power Kite model Peter Lynn Twister 4.1 m2 £100

Power kite model Ozone riot 5 m2 £150

Power Kite model Peter Lynn 6.8 m2 £100

Harness Ozone XC ACCESS plus 2 hooks £75

£675 worth of stuff. Then you have to factor in ebay fees, delivery to you, and delivery from you. and your time. Might be worth a gamble if you've got lots of time and have a high tolerance for trying to sell stuff on ebay, and it doesn't go much higher than $300, and you live close enough to pick it up and avoid that £75 shipping charge.

I'd keep an eye on it and if it doesn't sell, offer the guy £250

Try a thousand for the American made version.
It would be a good deal if you are going to use the gear. Reselling for a profit might be a tough proposition

Thanks for your advice guys.
I'm currently unemployed, so do have lots of time to spare !!

I've sent the seller a few questions, ill wait for his reply to make my decision.

(The large Peter Lynn kite is a Viper by the way, you may have already known that.)

I can collect it too, so that would save me a few quid, although petrol would cost a bit !

At the moment i think im most tempted to keep the buggy, and possibly the 6.8, and sell the rest. It would cost a bit, but still be a big bargain for what im getting !

An alternative would be to sell the buggy, and keep more of the kites. I wouldn't mind a buggy, but there are several downsides ! (one being i just got a new board, lol)

does that kind of buggy come apart, or fold in any way ? (i have a small car)

cheezycheese - 10-9-2012 at 10:03 AM

That buggy should disassemble rather easy. Viper makes the deal even better. What Pansch is in the kit...?

elfasa - 10-9-2012 at 10:31 AM

Awesome, thanks. how is it done, just with bolts ? Seems to be getting better and better !!

Im not sre about the pansh, ive asked him, he hasn't replied yet though, ill let you know when he does.

Is the viper a good kite ? i dont know much about it. What are its characteristics ? Its one i would like to keep if possible. not if its a ''widow maker'' or anything similar though !

search is your friend... there are numerous comments and threads about the Viper. :smug:

elfasa - 10-9-2012 at 10:56 AM

I did have a quick search, couldn't find what I wanted though. I'll have another look.

The pansh is a legend.

jimbocz - 10-9-2012 at 02:04 PM

I didn't know it's a viper. My estimate was too low for that kite.

elfasa - 10-9-2012 at 02:43 PM

How much would the viper be worth ? (even though I woul probably keep it!)
If it hasnt sold by tomorrow I'm going to get it I think.

soliver - 10-9-2012 at 04:35 PM

I think Vipers are awesome kites!

I have a 2.6m Viper S and love that thing! I can't speak for the bigger ones, but I can tell you that the small one I have is super awesome. It is really easy to fly and pulls like a mac truck in the right wind. I can only imagine that the 6.8m is just an equitable big brother.

They have recently been discontinued by PL for who knows why, so the new Viper S's are selling right around $400 usd. (not sure how that translates) But the value of the kite they are selling I think will depend whether it is a Viper or the newer Viper S, and how used it is,... Just a guess though,... Mougl can tell you the major differences between the models.

I don't think the difference is substantial though,... with all that said, it's a good kite IMHO.

Bladerunner - 10-9-2012 at 07:27 PM

That is a pretty sweet buggy! I would have a hard time passing it on. With that belly pan and all I have to think it's worth $450 easy sell in North America. I don't know your market and Flexi is more common so ??? :dunno:
Yes, it unbolts quick and easy for transport and storage.

The Viper is a well behaved , low lift kite well suited to buggy and cruising on ATB.

Bladerunner - 10-9-2012 at 07:33 PM

Sorry , I don't want to hijack your thread but .....

Are those rims just painted standard barrows or can you order silver ones like that ??????

Those are unique ?

tridude - 10-9-2012 at 07:38 PM

Yeah looks a great buy.......the Riot rocks I have one. used to live in New Market and RAF Lakenheath back in the 90s...........we're you at Cambridge for uni?

elfasa - 11-9-2012 at 07:00 AM

Thanks for all your help guys, as usual :)

Tridude, I wasn't at Cambridge no. (i wish, lol) I went to Coventry university. Its not a bad Uni, but not even in the same league as Cambridge !

Bladerunner, i don't know if the rims are stock or not. I guess ill have to ask him... When i collect it this evening !! :)

I offered him 400gbp (640usd) for the lot, which he didn't accept. He said he would take £425 ($680) for the whole lot and he would throw in a brand new wind meter as well. I thought its too good a deal to pass on, so snapped it up straight away.

Good job too, as apparently he was also talking to someone who was just about to give him the full price for it all!

Im looking forward to it.

elfasa - 11-9-2012 at 04:31 PM

Just it it all home, can't wait to play with my new toys :)

Bladerunner - 11-9-2012 at 05:49 PM

The fact you avoided paying shipping makes this one heck of a good deal.

I wouldn't be selling the buggy and don't claim to know your market but I sure think 200 pounds for that buggy was a low ball # ? There is a few dollars just in the extras alone on that thing. Belly pan should sell for enough to make a struggling student happy. Add 5 pounds for the splash skirt. Probably 35 or more right there ?

If that harness doesn't fit there is some money in it as well.

I think with some aggresive selling you could get most of your money back and still keep the stripped down buggy ?

elfasa - 12-9-2012 at 03:19 AM

Thanks bladerunner. I think if I can keep the buggy and viper I'll be happy :)
