I wanted to take a second to introduce myself. There was a misunderstanding and I was banned as a spammer. Obviously, it's been cleared up since I'm
posting from this account, but I've lost my posts and I don't really want it to happen again.
My name is Josh and I am in Philly. I am new to power kiting, haven't flown anything bigger than my Symphony 2.2, but I'm looking forward to learning
and stepping up to bigger kites eventually. I'm planning on making a day trip to WBB in October, I read this board every day and have learned a lot.
I've bought from Angus' web store (by the way Angus, the line set came today...thanks!).
It was a post I made about a web comic called XKCD that got marked as spam. It's not spam...XKCD is a fantastic web comic and the one from a few days
ago was awesome. I wanted to share it because it was simply that great.
Anyway, I'm a real person and not a spammer. I apologize for the misunderstanding, hope you'll all welcome me into this community. I'll be sure to
introduce myself at WBB. I'll be the dude who doesn't know who anyone is.
Looking forward to hanging out here...
Josh

Welcome and sorry for the bad experience .
If you hang around you will see that this forum gets hit with a lot of spam . People are quick to try and discourage it in an effort to keep it clean.
Lots of chat about outside interests . It's not like it's not allowed .
If you can make that daytrip it will be extremely valuable . So much gear in one place is a huge education in itself. You can get a feel for something
bigger and an idea about the different ways to ride. Nothing like actually watching folks fly to help figure it out yourself!

Josh, welcome to the forum. Glad everything is worked out! Works out, better once you introduce yourself like you have now!
Glad you are going to make the trip down for WBB! Heck You may be able to hook up with Matt (pkf Cyclesteel) He is in Philly and met us today in DE to
pick up a buggy and new kite! We showed him the ropes on the buggy and off he went!
Blade is right, no place better to learn a few tricks and get you hands on some different gear than an event like WBB! Ask for me or look for me! I
will be wearing my East Coast Kite Sports shirts or sweat shirts for sure! Just ask anyone there, they will know where to point you to find me! My
number is in my sig, ever have any questions, call or shoot me an email! Always glad to help someone out!
We are getting some wind here now, maybe next weekend if the winds are good you can take a road trip down to Smyrna and have a blast with us!

Thanks guys.
All things being equal, I will be at WBB. I'm excited to check it out.
Rich - a trip down to Smyrna probably isn't in the cards for next weekend, but thank you for the invite. I may take you up on it another time,
though.
Incidentally, what do you all consider good winds? With my small Symphony 2.2, I find that it is frequently not windy enough for it to be exciting.
I probably need at least 10mph to feel like I'm doing something while static flying. I'm hoping Fall brings the winds.

Hey Josh where in Philly are you located? There are a few fields in Doylestown and Warminster I fly at. If you want to meet up one weekend a try
some slightly bigger kites let me know. I am still pretty new to traction kiting so I do not know how much help I will be but it is always good to
have another person to get dragged down the field with
shehatesmyhobbies - 24-9-2012 at 10:19 AM
I need 10mph consistant winds to even consider hooking my truck up to the trailer. If I can get 15mph consistant winds it is definitely on!

Matt - I'm in Montco, in Glenside. Which fields in Warminster? I'm about 30 minutes from there. I don't know that area too well; usually I'm just
passing through on the way somewhere else.
cyclesteel - 24-9-2012 at 11:06 AM
You are not far at all. I grew up in Abington and lived in Glenside for about 3 years. As for fields I have been going to Turk Field which is on Almshouse Road right off of 611 and Northampton Municipal Park which is right across from the old Warminster Airbase.
Both Parks have enough room for the buggy Although Turk has a gravel road running across it which I came dangerously close to putting the kite down
on yesterday . and the other side of the road is a little too bumpy to ride also
Where have you been flying at in Glenside?
I thought I was the only one in the area into power Kites. It is good to see some other local people into it. Let me know if you want to meet up.

Welcome to the funny farm. Glad this time you got a warm welcome from the gang.
When you come to WBB watch out for Konrad. He's a huger!! But then who isn't? Look forward to meeting you there. You will have no problem picking me
out of the crowd, I have likely the longest beard and hair of all the men and women. But most of the women don't have beards so that is easy!!
lactardjosh - 24-9-2012 at 12:37 PM
rocfighter - long hair, long beard, got it. I'll keep an eye out for you.
Matt - Yeah, those aren't too far from me at all. I'm slightly more familiar with where Turk Park is, since that's not too much past the EMS I go to.
I've actually been flying at some of the Abington Junior High fields. I've tried over at Cheltenham High's fields but the ones I could use had
terrible wind.
