need a 5-8 M foil kite

bestia - 7-10-2012 at 07:00 PM

I'm just thinking to start snowkiting, so need something inexpensive, please.
I prefer a de-powerable kite 5-8 m.
Any recommendation or offer will be highly appreciated

Hi...
I understand you have previous experience with power kites ..... If not ... you should be looking for trainer kite before purchasing bigger kites ....

If you pass that point .... I have very nice 2010/11 Gin Yeti 8m kite for sale ... for $550
some info about kite :

I started snowkiting on a Pansh Legend 5.5m FB foil.
For $150 RTF (except for kite killers extra $12) it was less than a trainer.
Kite lasted for two winter seasons (~20 sessions, thats $7.50 per session !)
Just small enough to use as a trainer and when winds picks up enough power to be interesting....
Of course start in winds barely enough to fly the kite, nothing over 5knts (6mph) to get a feel for it....

Thanks, mates.
is 2008 Frenzy 5 meter good kite to start? Comparatively to the Pansh Legend 5.5m?

Bladerunner - 8-10-2012 at 06:10 PM

2 very very different kites. Neither is one I would suggest.

The 5m Frenzy is an ultra high wind kite and depower. Requiring a harness and a good amount of wind to fly.
The Legend is a fixed bridle and TOO BIG if you have no flying experience. Limited wind range.

You need to buy a 3m fixed bridle to learn on. If you have done that then stick with the Depower plan but look at 7 - 8m.

I do have experience with 2 m trainer on a beach :-) and actually do plan to wear harness while snowkiting.
Can I start with 7-8 m depowerable? any good kite to recommend ? anything for sale?

Bladerunner - 9-10-2012 at 06:39 AM

Are you all on your own ? Learning depower happens much quicker with somebody with knowledge helping you.

Yes, 7 or 8m will be more useful. A 5m needs a lot of wind to generate power and about the same minimum wind as a 5m.

Watch the for sale section and see what comes up. Pulse, Apex and ccess are all well behaved and a good place to start.

have a 5m Best Waroo depower........flies in 10mph........20 plus is really sweet! Great kite if your skill set can handle it.............
