Sold-2m depower kite, kite only or with bar/lines

DihongShao2000 - 8-10-2012 at 10:18 PM

It was converted from a 4-line fixed bridle kite with adjusted bridles and added pulleys. Any depower bar/line set should be able to fly this kite. Great training kite for youth to understand how depower kite works and for high wind kite landboarding. Great condition! Video link provided below for review.

B-Roc - 9-10-2012 at 07:20 PM

Did PowerZone do the conversion or is this something you did on your own? What make / model is the original kite? I'd like to see pics for kicks and giggles. Can you not just upload them here?

That would work quite well, I think I put my email out like this to be used. Good call.
I look forward to the picks.

Is this a mod you did or was it done by someone else?

I'm having a hard time getting my head around a 2m depower kite, any chance to see it fly? I would guess the wind would need to be around 30mph to see it in it's glory.

I worked with John of Powerzone on converting one of my fixed bridle 4-line kites to a depower kite. I make some modifications to the bridle to make it happen. John’s help and guidance was indeed instrumental. When I came across this 2m kite, the existing bridle is pretty much set up for conversion without too much trouble of bridle modifications. I simply moved all the parts from my previous conversion to this kite including pulleys and depower bar and then put the other kite back to a fixed bridle kite.

The required wind to fly it is nothing more or less than a regular 2m training kite. The bar and lines I used were original from a 7m tube kite. They are a bit overkill for kite this size.

I will make a video showing the depower bridle details and how it flies weather permits. Video link will be posted here when I have it made.

Kiting is fun...and working with kites is just as fun. Happy kiting and good wind to you all :bouncing:

Welcome DS2000,

That is a pretty unique kite . If there is anybody interested odds are you found the right forum to find them.

I am still kind of stuck on the Why ? Does this kite produce power enough to use as an engine or is it more for use as a trainer ?

cheezycheese - 11-10-2012 at 08:20 AM

I have a 3m depower and it needs about 20-25mph to have any fun in the buggy. I'm sure a smaller/younger rider would have fun with this. Or great for those nuclear days where you are leaning into the wind just to stand... :bigok:

Hijack alert...

How "going" are you at 20-25? I use to have a 4m Access MK1 which I loved in the 20 - 30+ wind range but don't want to pay what Ozone asks for the Access these days. Wondering how much less power the 3m Apex has compared to the 4m Access?

rocfighter - 11-10-2012 at 09:15 AM

OH NO B-Roc is trying to go to CUBA!!

cheezycheese - 11-10-2012 at 11:45 AM

You won't break any speed records, but you're not crawling either....

Looks like Golden Gardens, over to the point would have been better wind.

I don't know why I am so interested in this kite.:puzzled:
What are you doing this weekend? can you show up at Marymoor Park?
I want to fly it. OK I said it. (could be something to do with the loss of my bug  )

DihongShao2000 - 19-10-2012 at 07:47 PM

Thanks for your interest in this kite. It was sold after I posted it on GWTW Forum. I should ship it out this weekend if post office opens or I will have to ship it out on Monday. If you would like to try it out, we can meet this weekend at Golden Gardens Park.

I never fly at Marymoor Park and would love to fly there. It is just too far from my home. If you bring your kites and gears and I bring mine, we can have some fun there if you would like. What kind of kites and gears you have?

What, you sold it? @^$*#%^@* should have jump on it.

what kind of kites and gear do I have?
Im like Kamikuza, I got a kite or 2 and a couple of things to go with them.
You interested in the water, or land? Beach, field, or lake bed? Buggy or board? Depower or FB? Wet or kinda wet? Jumping or cruising? For the day or the week? Big or kinda little?
You let me know what you are willing to try and I will bring a couple of things.

DihongShao2000 - 20-10-2012 at 12:13 PM

Just shipped out this morning as post office opens this morning. Sorry...

I am so glad you are not that far away and you do all the "big kid" kiting stuff. U2U me so we can exchange contacts and hook up to enjoy our kites in our fall windy days...

timothymcmackin - 26-10-2012 at 04:38 AM

It arrived yesterday. Thanks! Can't wait to fly it.

That sounds really fun. I have a 16m and a 12m tube kites; 10m flysurfer phycho-3. I sold all my smaller power kites and just bought a 7.7m peter lynn twist-II. I am thinking of converting it to a depower kite like the one I sold. How about getting together and get to know each other? I can show you my plan on the kite depower conversion; You can show me how to kite landborading, kite jumping, kite buggy...I am still learning and could have some help. Getting into water in the Fall is not my thing. I took kitesurfing lesson last winder in Bellingham...it was really cold even with drysuit on.

How about you pick a good day with decent wind and let's do it at your park? Will U2U my cell so we can text. Deal?

grigorib - 29-5-2013 at 07:01 PM

It seems that one went away too fast.
I have a 2m depower Flysurfer Rookie II for someone who can appreciate a small depower kite. It could be sold as kite only or with bar/lines.
The wing is clean and has professionally reinforced leading edge on the front of the ribs so it can take some abuse from a learning growing pilot.
