Shipping arc's

Snake - 11-10-2012 at 06:18 PM

I've found some arc's really cheap and was wondering what the cheapest way to have them shipped. The main problem is the spars are 1.5 meters long and are non collapsible. Would it cost less to ship the spars separately in a tube or put them in with the kites in a long skinny box? No spars could be an option but i would prefer to have the origilal spars.

Wait, they have one piece spars? Where are these kites comming from?

Don't guerilla 1's have one piece spars?

Some phantoms had 1 piece spars. Possibly not oem. I never thought about shipping one long and skinny. Is worth calculating costs to compare.

Keep in mind you can always replace spars with shorter aluminum sections

My 2¢ - consider the cost of shipping them vs. the cost of just replacing them with a set from Angus.

Sounds like you are buyig some really old arcs?

I have to wonder why? I got a 13 + 18m Guerilla + harness + extra bars + lines + shirts +++ for $200. I turned away from arcs at that point . Way too slow and tough to fill. Not until years later did arcs perform well enough to pull me back.

You missed out on the 7m Montana ? THAT was the kite to get you going ? You seem all over the place with your choices ? Going in circles and missing the right deals. The avoid older arcs is advice you got looooong ago?

BR is right, if you've got a line on some old F-Arcs I would not recommend going the early model Arc route. Not that I'm against flying old Arcs, I love the F-Arcs but they have a special performance envelope and on a good day can be a hassle and a bad day just downright unruly/dangerous.

No I am still working out a deal on the 7M montana. The only reason I am considering getting these kites is because they are free, I just have to pick up the shipping costs. The kites are a 13m, a 15m, and a 18m Guerilla 1. I have estimated the cost of shipping to be around $30.

Free is good!

Those are the arcs that turned me away from arcs. Still they have the auto zenith and gust munching. They are just slow turning and short on range + a real bother to ground handle. All things one can get over for FREE!

13 and 18 want 2 sized bars ? Do these come with bars and lines? If so your shipping estimate is way low. Might be low already for 3 kites? 2 bars and lines will cost a quick nickle.

I'm glad you haven't gone full circle. That 7m Montana II is about as good a deal and as good a match to your need$ as you will find. I would still consider it so you have a " flop and fly " kite to get out for a quick session. + you will see how vastly different the 2 styles are to own + fly.

I sent a 12m Charger to Seattle from NH and it was $40 USPS.

The Montana is the way to go tho. If you can swing both gram the Arcs and play with them when you get your handling skills down. BR is right, those kites are kinda dogs in the PL line but still nice kites to play with.
