"Welcome to the club" has already been said, so...
Welcome to the action!
Hopefully it'll be a dry and breezy weekend.

Ever heard of the NEW KITE CURSE???:lol::lol: Rain and now wind for at least 3 weeks!!
Just kidding, Have a safe great time and take it slow.

No worries. Soon that rain will be snow. :tumble::tumble::tumble:

Have fun, but be mindful; when the wind picks up even a lowly 350 can put you in the hurt. I'm 180 pounds and my Hydra 350 will drag me down the beach when the winds are near 15-20 knots. Anything more than that and I don't even bother trying since it's too hard to hold on to the bar!

Take your time and build up your skills in the light winds. Don't be afraid to dump the kite to the kite killers the moment that you think that you might be getting in over your head.

Congrats; welcome to our addiction. You can check out anytime you'd like, but you can never leave.

Nice! Hope you get some winds. Had a great session yesterday, had a ...well, was better than the couch, session today! :)

big_d - 18-10-2012 at 06:41 PM

haha thanks, suppose to be sunny with light wind, should be perfect for an actual first day!

beachrights - 19-10-2012 at 02:47 AM

Well alright!!

Glad you got this on the right track! Now go fly the piss out of it and get those skills down! And bury that other bar will ya?! :frog:

lives2fly - 19-10-2012 at 04:56 AM

Statistically I live in the windiest coastal (sea level) location in Europe with a 79% chance on any given day that the wind will be Beaufort scale 4 or above....

But even here if you buy a new kite it will either be flat calm or rainstorms for the next 2 weekends!!!!

Have fun with it!

abkayak - 19-10-2012 at 05:15 AM

wait wait wait.....nothing lowly about that 350, thats the greatest kite in the world right now and you treat it as such... now you go be the best pilot on the planet

big_d - 19-10-2012 at 07:01 AM

not enough wind yet :( hopefully by lunch time

Mostly Harmless - 19-10-2012 at 07:09 AM

First time I took out my Rush Pro 350 (my first kite) was in 30+mph winds. It was quite an experience. I still use the kite from time to time, love bringing it to pinics and getting family and friends on it, they are always amazed how much it pulls even in the lighter winds. I fly it for 6 months before I decided to get into kiteboarding and it made all the difference when I took lessons.

Welcome to the club.

bobalooie57 - 19-10-2012 at 07:11 AM

I have the Rush Pro IV 300, and had it out yesterday in wind 20g30ish and boy is that kite fast for a small kite on a bar! Plenty of pull in that wind, and lots of fun! I didn't have time to go to the beach, so I just flew static at the fairgrounds, enough to take the edge off...

big_d - 19-10-2012 at 08:07 AM

in a bout another hour it should be good, 11 km/hr right now, waiting for 15

big_d - 19-10-2012 at 10:16 AM

damn not enough wind, went out for a bit got it up a couple times not long tho :( :( maybe wind will pick up a bit later

erratic winds - 19-10-2012 at 12:29 PM

No worries, even if it doesn't. Sometimes mother nature doesn't make us happy. But when she does? Oh boy, she delivers!

... (other thread works, changed posts per page)

Looks better.

But, I don't get where that bungy goes to (below the EH at the trimstrap)?!? Why is that there?? It's an unusual setup. Are you supposed to clip your kite leash to the red ball there? Is it held there with velcro? If you release the chickenloop, will it deploy the leash? or will the bungy just keep stretching?

Have you sorted out the chickenloop on that bar too?

big_d - 19-10-2012 at 04:29 PM

lol no idea I am still learning as I go along here, chicken loop is almost sorted out, seat belt is removed just trying to attach it correctly want to add the 5th line first,

and this is where the bungee goes, and no i wouldnt attach it to the red ball.

big_d - 19-10-2012 at 04:30 PM

at least I dont think lol, i could be wrong

zero gee - 19-10-2012 at 04:48 PM

That does look like some kind of release. What does it release? Is that how the chickenloop rope attaches to the trimstrap?

Perhaps the original setup released the chickenloop, that line (your bungy line in your case) remains attached to the chickenloop line and that becomes your leash. So that would be your primary safety and not your chickenloop. If that's the case everything will need to pass through the bar hole without binding for at least the span of your kite to ensure it flags out. or is it to release the 5th line???

or, You need a way to clip your kite leash to the line going through that ring (like in the example you found). Your kite leash clips to your harness. To deploy your safety, open your chickenloop, the bar rides up that leashed front line, and the kite is supposed to flag out and stop pulling.
