The CWPA to open next spring.

I was talking to a person in Fields, Oregon about the motel issues for Alvord, and found that the slow time of year is spring and late fall, with that the lake bed is at it's finest in late fall.
I jokenly spoke of creating an event for that time of year and they lit up with enthusiasm.
So the thought of creating a place to go and get "FIXED" from the allure of kiting, I was thinking about starting "The Center for Wind Power Addiction", The "WPA Center". Kind of like the Betty Ford Clinic, but without the recovery aspect. Just a place to spend a week, or 3, or ? to get it out of your system for a bit, while everyone back home thinks you are in recovery.
In the winter the lake fills in with about a foot of water and freezes. Buy the way the elevation is at 4000ft. The Hot spring is accessible year round. With the remoteness of the area one would not have to worry about family members dropping by unexpectedly.

I thought about living there on the way home last weekend and setting up a rental shop with wind powered items as the main focus. All that would be needed is for my wife to say "YES",   And of course some Patients to check into the clinic.

Anyone else with a wild dream? or a possibility of one?

Sounds like heaven to me. While your idea is more realistic than what I've been daydreaming the past while; I have, a dream to start a kiters paradise. The lake I frequent is surrounded by miles of open land with rolling hills. If the lotto were to come true, I'm gonna buy the land and turn it into "The Nash Project". Rollers will be brought in to smooth the land for ATB and Buggy. The beach set for kite setup and launch. Cut trails for mountain biking in summer and cross country skiing in the winter. The hills turned into mountainboard park. I will put in snow makers for a big snow kite park with tons of open space for many many kiters. There's more but like I said you are probably more realistic in every way. Something I've daydreamed about for several hours in the middle of the night or early morning when everyone is still asleep.

I can't go home to Calgary and not come out of it thinking about the kite park idea. ( then I remember how seasonal the sport is + that I Kill Wind )

It has a growing snowkite population. That land that would include Red Dear lake looks ripe! With some smart advertising ... Foothills, Chinook winds ??? It seems less crazy all the time.

The desert ? Build it and they will come ??? :puzzled:

If my insurance would cover it... :spin: Actually told my doctor about AOXOMOXOA. I told him for me, the best therapy is kite therapy. He sounded intrigued, until I suggested a perscription for a new race buggy would work for me, much better than paxil or cymbalta! :D

If only I was single again:rolleyes: I could make extended stays and never have to answer to anyone but myself. Those were the good ol' days, only limited by the vacation and money available in my accounts. As you can tell I only wear half of the pants in my family.

I was dreaming this morning and got to talking with my best half and she asked a few questions about the subject. Now when she gets to that point, I have to step back and rethink the issue.
OK, I need more time to mull this over, is she thinking about it also? Is she looking for a fight? Or is she talking about really going through with the idea but making it a REAL recovery center for me? I need to get caught up with the honey-do-list, check and see if the cars oil has been changed. Did I miss something?

I'll be back later, need to think..........
