Any other kiters in Memphis TN?

jbraal - 19-10-2012 at 08:04 AM

Hello,

I am looking for other people who live in or around Memphis TN who are interested in kiting. Currently I am kite landboarding at Shelby Farms whenever we have enough wind.

Hi jbraal, welcome to the wind! Shelby Farms looks like a pretty nice spot, got any vids? We always like more of the kite pron. I don't think I have heard from anyone near you, but keep flying, and when you see someone watching you intently,(you'll get to know the look) offer to show them how! Then you will create your own kite buddy!(careful, they might blame you for 'addicting' them)

Hey, Jbraal,... I grew up in Germantown and still have a lot of family in the Memphis area (which I don't unfortunately visit)... I've always thought that if I ever get back over there I would try to ride Shelby farms,... how's the wind there in Mempho?

Hello Soliver,

The wind is not great but I take what I can get. There are a lot of days with little or now wind. It is often most windy during the middle of the day when I am stuck at work and dies down by the time I can get out to the field. There are a lot of days of 10-15 mph but we get a good bit of 15-20+ mph early in the year. Today it look like it will get up to around 12-14 mph so I will be heading out in a bit. Probably flying either my 10m HQ Apex or 10m Slingshot Key

Let me know if you do make it out this way.

Yea, you will probably start to get some fall winds soon like here in Atlanta.
