Where is Lake Tahoe?

Kamikuza - 20-10-2012 at 06:35 AM

The wife's brother just bought a holiday house on Lake Tahoe and said we can use it any time we like. Might have to take him up on the offer one day...

Discovered tonight we have friends in North Carolina too. Hmm...

:wee:

Lake Tahoe is about an hour southwest of Reno NV which is at the northern part of the state. It is actually in california though. The lake itself straddles the state line of CA and NV. I'm very familiar with NC as well if you need a heads up.

Oh look out Dino :D

Just wait till I get a job

BeamerBob - 20-10-2012 at 06:58 AM

Yeah Dino isn't much more than 3 hours away from there.

Hey kami,
I grew up there in Tahoe City on the North side of the Lake. I live on the coast in northern California now, but come on over! It's all one giant playground!

Tahoe is fantastic and you'll have to take your friend up on their offer! Excellent summer/winter playground. Kiting is more likely on the lake when it is frozen. Massive number of resorts can have lots to offer, though.

It looks to me like you head east and then turn left after you see the Baja ! :duh:

Kamikuza - 20-10-2012 at 04:58 PM

Could be a plan then :) but don't hold your breath :o

Feyd - 21-10-2012 at 04:45 AM

Does Tahoe ever freeze? I've seen some of the coves get ice on them but I've never heard of or seen Tahoe freeze.

Flyfish - 21-10-2012 at 07:15 AM

No.

AD72 - 21-10-2012 at 10:30 AM

Tahoe does not freeze. In the winter it is gusty punchy turbulent winds in the surrounding areas. I have wanted to check out Grass Lake which is south of Tahoe and freezes over but it is a long trek from Davis. Last Fall and Winter I just kiteboarded Folsom Lake which is closer for me. Also there was very little snow fall last year. I was fine in a 5/3 wetsuit. This year I may go for a dry suit.
I have heard that in the summer Tahoe is very low wind. So definitely bring your 21M.

Feyd - 21-10-2012 at 03:19 PM

I didn't think so. When I lived out that way I don't ever remember hear of or seeing Tahoe freeze.

mthboards - 7-11-2012 at 05:04 PM

Tahoe never freezes but the shore Line can sometimes.
Kings beach is a good Place to kiteboard, but not many good days.
About 20 miles from Reno/Tahoe is Washoe
Lake, some really good kiteboarding there.
You can almost expect 4 days a week of good wind.

You can drive? ;)

Kamikuza - 8-11-2012 at 05:06 AM

Like the wind. An angry, intolerant-of-idiots wind. In country full of gun nuts?

"Rat-fruit-loving tourist shot in his fat ass for hurling insults in Japanese at Bubba the redneck, who turned without using indicators. Film at 11."

Maybe if I only drive in states where pot is legal... mm, noodles...

rocfighter - 8-11-2012 at 08:46 AM

Come to CT we tolerate tall heavy white Asian wanna bee's!!!!!As long as they fly kites that is:lol: And around here only rich folks cars come with out turn signals. And I holler at them all the time!!

macboy - 8-11-2012 at 09:44 AM

That's odd...in Edmonton it seems as though turn signals are pricey options on the high end autos. Rarely do the have them around here. The nicer the car, the less likely they sprung for the turn signal option.

erratic winds - 8-11-2012 at 10:58 AM

One of the high points of last year was asking a Law Enforcement Officer to use his signals when changing lanes or turning. He even tried to object! Now, when was the last time you got to give a cop the stinkeye and tell him he's doin wrong? It was amazing!

DAKITEZ - 8-11-2012 at 02:30 PM

It only takes me about 2 hours to Tahoe. I would be happy to get the keys from your friend and stay there for the weekend. No benefit to me of course. I would be just testing out the place for you :saint: Thats the nice kind of guy I am :)

BeamerBob - 8-11-2012 at 05:43 PM

^^^ That's what friends are for!

Kamikuza - 9-11-2012 at 01:15 AM

Brother-in-law actually... he goes from awesome bloke to utter wanker in a millisecond :ticking: he'll probably forget he offered the place to us once we've booked the plane tickets :(

snowspider - 9-11-2012 at 05:58 AM

The legal and decriminalized list just got longer with this election, you could probably start planning your Kami crosses America trip now.

Kamikuza - 9-11-2012 at 06:03 AM

So who wants to be be Chong to my Cheech? :wee:

cheezycheese - 9-11-2012 at 06:13 AM

Kam, what are pot laws in Japan...?

rocfighter - 9-11-2012 at 06:38 AM

I kinda look like Tommy Chong. But alas I don't partake in the consumption of the great herb.
