New name for the kite buggy?

BeamerBob - 26-10-2012 at 08:38 PM

What if we called the buggy a "kite cart" or something more flattering than buggy. I know it's what we've always called it but I don't think it conveys what we are doing with them. Thoughts?

But why stop at something so literal. How about terraluge?

I kinda think kite buggy is pretty cool. But then again I liken it to things like dune buggies and baja buggies, not prams and baby strollers.

Kite cart?!? Really? Puts me too much in mind of:

If you're going fast enough, I guess you could call it a hovercat...

Err umm.... make that hovercraft.

If you were willing to pay the licensing fees, I expect you could call it a Landspeeder

And if you get caught doing something you shouldn't be doing....

"These are not the kite fliers you are looking for ..."

ATB,
Sam

P.S. Keep in mind the various "... Buggy Bash" events you will have to rename to something less alliterative.

Kite Trike

beachrights - 27-10-2012 at 05:05 AM

I have a Kite Trike by Cloud 9 and it does NOT deserve to wear the badge name for all Bugs out there! It's in a class of its own! Do they have AAA for Buggies?

BeamerBob - 27-10-2012 at 05:35 AM

I guess a buggy by any other name would still be a buggy.

If we put a hitch on the back of that cart he could give rides to all the kids while shopping at Safeway for dinner. Maybe add a bell to warn the old lady who stopped in the middle of the isle to try to read the label of Jello as he tries to get by. I could go on and on about this cart.
Maybe I need a job away from the computer, my wife keeps telling me to turn it off.:puzzled:
I could put an electric motor on the cart with flames along the side with a racing number and sponsor decals.........

Kite buggy sounds fine until you tell someone that you do kite buggying, then they say kite what?

treblehook - 27-10-2012 at 04:42 PM

I would say wind wagon, but looks like its already been done.:spin:

Don't the Europeans call them Parakarts ? That sounds slightly more exotic than 'buggy'....

That does sound more exotic but would still require the usual distinction from land sailers and kiteboarding. You might have something there. I really don't think we could change the name on a whim even if we wanted to though.

FWIW:

NAPKA (North American Power Kiting Association)

was formerly

NAPKRA (North American Parakart Racing Association).

Landsailers I always take to mean:
