Yet another WBB in the books! Oct 2012

shehatesmyhobbies - 27-10-2012 at 09:29 PM

I must say that I am saddened that another event has come to a close at WBB.At the same time, I can't begin to tell you how great an event it was! Sandy put a crink in our plans for Sunday, Mandantory Evacs Sunday first thing. I actually left not long after the BBQ, although I did stick around for some dancing while the music played. It looks like here at home, we are really going to take a lashing!

I keep saying at the end of each bash how much fun it was, and that it keeps getting better, this time it was no different.

The wind was great, the flying was great, the people were spectacular, and the fun never ended. I am sure in the next week or so tons of pics and videos will start popping up.

I want to thank everyone that attended, helped out where I needed them to.

A huge special thanks goes out to one special kid. Josh, you are one Kool Kat! You were there for the fun, but stepped up and helped out with what ever you could. Offering as much assistance with anything and everything you could. It takes a special kid to want to be so involved. You hung around all of us and jumped in on the ribbing and laughter! What a blast!

Thanks again to all of you who come. ALL of you are the reason why this event is something so very special and makes it worth every ounce of effort that we put into it.

If you are on the fence about coming to WBB, call and talk to anyone that comes to the event. You will be booking your ticket as soon as you can for the next event.

See you in the Spring or sooner!

Ride on!

Another great event, good wind and good people! Thanks to Rich and everyone else who helped organize - your efforts make this event a success every time!

I had a great time at the bash. If anyone is wondering about going to a wildwood buggy bash or not, then they should go. The entire event is great

:bigok: I thought the Spring WBB was fun......
This Bash (other then having to leave a little early) took the cake. WOW! I mean other then being with my family on vacation.....this was the most fun I have had in 20 years. Did I mention WOW!

Awesome seeing the people that took me in on my first bash...(Danny, Rich, Todd, Paul, Cheezy..... can't name everyone ) :singing:
A big thanks to Rich and the effort he put in to get it all together...along with the "insurance man" that made it happen and LBJ "Joe" for pulling some strings and going to bat for us. I hope all the kids that get to hang with you appreciate what you are teaching/offering them.

I made some new friends...in some new places...so that was great that they got to see what this place is all about. Lots of smiles seeing newbies learning knowing that they will be tearing it up soon. A great bunch of kids in there too, kite flyers or just ping pong players.. Parents should be proud of them...

The whole drive home it was hard to think about anything but going back and forth across that beach all day long. If this wasn't a family forum I would be putting a whole bunch of choice words in there to describe how I really feel. I'm looking forward to the Spring one already and any help we can do to make it an event for the American Cancer Society. (get the punk kites out).

Thats about all....Thanks again to all for cooking, organizing, and making this a GREAT WEEKEND!

Bruce

Bruce, you left no doubt in anyones mind that you had a great time! You were really tearing up that beach!

rocfighter - 28-10-2012 at 03:21 PM

Bruce have you stopped smiling yet?

Todd - 29-10-2012 at 04:23 PM

So good to see everyone again! It was said that this may have been the best one yet... I say let's keep making them better. Thank you for all of the help and support from all that pitched in. Josh! Dude you rocked with helping the event run smoothly, next year you may lick the burgers

hiaguy - 29-10-2012 at 07:15 PM

What a great week(end)! I can't stop smiling :spin: .

Four days of sun, sand, wind, kites, and friends was capped off with being able to share it with my son. You guys are great and I couldn't ask for a better group of people to have him hang out with. Y'all simply took him into the fold, let him be who he was, and treated him as just another one of the guys. Thank you.

Rich, thank you for your kind words. His mom was floored to read them and Josh was grinning with pride as she did. You helped make it a very special trip for him.

Todd, I'm not sure that there's anyone that can lick them with as much gusto as you, but I'll make sure that he's there to help flip them.

Is it too early to call the Shalimar and book for the Spring  ?

buggydanny - 29-10-2012 at 09:31 PM

I got home from the bash yesterday tired, sore, and very happy. I had a truly wonderful time and can't wait for the next one. For those that could not make it, you really missed a good one. I strongly encourage you to try to make it to one soon, you will not be disappointed.

The best part of the trip is by far the people. I know this to be the case since I chose to stay with everyone at the main beach on Saturday rather than sneak off to North Wildwood beach where the wind direction was more favorable. You may have heard me say this many times before, but here I go again, the trip is worth it for the people alone. I also got in 3 days and 2 nights of buggying with the best being a great session Thursday night. We did not get to go kiting on Sunday. Sandy saw to that, but I am glad that she held off till then.

The pictures and videos will be coming soon that captured the good times we all had. I am looking forward to them, but not as much as I am to the next bash. However I hope to fly with some of the attendees sooner. Geoff do you and some of the Canadians want to meet up in Maine some time to fly? Does anyone want to meet up in WW before the next bash?

Yes Sir!!!!........ I'd like to, just say when, give us the time to organize our self (like a week before). A weekend trip to before christmas would be nice.

Geoff we should wait a bit till you guys recover from Wildwood. We can pick a date when the tides are favorable, but wind and weather predictions a week out are horribly inaccurate. We can pick a tentative date a week or two out and then make a final decision to go or postpone a few days before based on the weather forecast. You are a long distance away and I would hate to have you drive all that way and get skunked. Will this work for you?

Bladerunner - 31-10-2012 at 06:44 AM

I will be booking my flight very soon for spring to take advantage of a discount.

I think I will plan it that I get down there a bit early ( and get some practice in :embarrased: ) ? If you have to choose between showing up or staying on a few days is there any reason I would prefer to stay on after ?

Do we wait for a group rate at Shalimar or do they know we are coming ?

If anybody has an old set of skis and size 9 boots I want to get in line for this sand ski thingy !!! MY kind of FUN ! :wee:

Seriously .... If somebody going to spring bash finds old skis and boots at a junk shop and picks them up if you buy I'll pay for them.

Geoff your English is fine for me. We have a plan then. Last year the southern coast of Maine got almost no snow, who knows what we will get this year. Since we buggy in the intertidal zone, the tide clears any snow twice a day. Snow on the beach is just not an issue.

Send me a e-mail (click on the blue e-mail button) and we can go over possible dates.

What a GREAT time. I thank everyone that helped organize this event and everyone that helped me on the beach. What a terrific group of people. I wish I could convey to the non-kiters, what a blast it is to cruz the beach. I guess that just means more beach for us :)

I hope everyone weathered the storm well. Still no power by me, but at least I could see this vid on 4G........
