Who did you vote for?

pongnut - 7-11-2012 at 09:50 AM

Not sure if this poll crosses any pkf guidelines or not but I'm curious who would have ended up as president if only the votes of the pkf members counted...

bigkid - 7-11-2012 at 09:55 AM

Do you really want to get into this?

pongnut - 7-11-2012 at 10:09 AM

Yeah, I know, the two things you don't discuss with your kite buds, "religion and politics"...

sunset-Jim - 7-11-2012 at 10:24 AM

None of the above.....:P

erratic winds - 7-11-2012 at 11:04 AM

I've LOVED PKF as a oasis in this storm of politics. Let's not get into it.

Though...OPEN INVITES TO DILLON COLORADO SNOWKITE OPEN.....bladerunner I'm looking at you ;)

flyguy0101 - 7-11-2012 at 11:10 AM

answered the poll and i had deleted a post this morning commenting on the same thing- why is it that as a society we are punishing the desire to succeed, i run a successful business and am seriously considering going galt. if you dont know what that means read "atlas shrugged" by Ayn Rand (published in 1957) and see what is happening to our country today
scott

erratic winds - 7-11-2012 at 11:15 AM

I can happily report that "Atlas Shrugged" is a work of fiction and is staying that way.

And also, this is exactly what I didn't want to talk about.

flyjump - 7-11-2012 at 11:18 AM

I voted for joeblinky

He happens to be a PKF member. Does that mean I voted for pkf?

flyguy0101 - 7-11-2012 at 11:21 AM

i think star trek was fiction as well but we have tablets and cell phones today......... did not say it was non fiction just explained what i was considering doing based on a character in the book no need to start a pi$$ing war
scott:)

shehatesmyhobbies - 7-11-2012 at 11:42 AM

My wife wrote in Mickey Mouse, and I wrote in Yoda, he is the smartest out there by a long shot! With Disney and Star Wars linking up, it should be a great 4 years!

All kidding aside, I will gracefully bow out of the poll! Love my kites, love my kite buds! Don't want to mix the two up!

then don't $%^&ing say "see what is happening to our country today" that's a very incendiary point of view. People will get very very riled up when you make such a claim.

Really hate it when people stir the pot and then claim they aren't stirrin.

Again, this is definitely something I want OFF of PKF. The only politics we should talk should be related to plovers and crap like that.

Chad - 7-11-2012 at 12:30 PM

The majority has spoken! our world will continue to spin..

In 4 more years I can actually say he will not be back again!

Delete this negitive thread

BEC - 7-11-2012 at 12:51 PM

My Grandmother always said to me as a little kid when I asked her who she voted for.... which I still remember to this day and is actually really good advise.

I DONT TALK ABOUT RELIGION OR POLITICS WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY. I will say... there were rarely arguments at the dinner table or family picnics... :eureka:

indigo_wolf - 7-11-2012 at 12:54 PM

I found a disturbing lack of fur among the candidates.

Political discussions are best done:

  1. in person (liquor optional or necessary, depending on your point of view)
  2. OTHER forums (there are plenty of political ones)

I apologize if that doesn't satisfy your curiousity.

If Facebook is any indication there are PKF members that do and don't have political views that align with mine. And I am fine with that (really).

If it's all the same with everyone I would prefer to leave that off the kite field and likewise this forum.

Trying to change hearts and minds over the Internet is just an exhausting exercise in futility that leaves both sides bloodied and resentful.

If you are on Facebook and want to read a much more comprehensive essay on the topic read Larry Embry's's timeline (kudos and huzzah, Larry).

There is more that is wrong with what the political system has become, the campaign and ancillary campaign structures/ process, and the lobby structure that can possibly be civilly dealt with in one thread, so for the sake of everyone's sanity, it would be best if we left these topics at the PKF door.

All the best to you & yours,
Sam

P.S. I like pumpkin pie.

MDK - 7-11-2012 at 05:04 PM

It's just a pole sheesh :)

I'll tell you..

skimtwashington - 7-11-2012 at 06:21 PM

I kind of spliced a couple things together...

..but I voted for Medical Mar-Obama.

or did I? Can't remember?

but it did pass... in Mass.(MA)! Thank me later:wee:

This may alleviate your kite addiction.

also I joined political Dating site

Kamikuza - 7-11-2012 at 08:55 PM

Last time I voted (the only time in fact) I voted for the Green Party. Green as is weed, not ecological :D

I'm pretty convinced that unless it's a dictatorship (like Sam said) it's just a different face with the same ol' bull#@%$#! piling up behind it...

I personally prefer pecan myself,...

How dare you cause such a row with your incendiary pie preferences! I am personally offended at your blatant pie preference discussion. The state of pie in this country is in no way something that we should be discussing here. Your pie self righteousness has sent me into a tissy and I refuse to comment further.

This is exactly what I didn't want to talk about...:lol::lol:

Maybe we should just talk about the bible now... Or maybe twinkies?

Scudley - 8-11-2012 at 12:01 AM

I think there people on this forum espousing we eat some sort of degenerate and subversive pies. Everyone knows anything but apple is un-american.
S

indigo_wolf - 8-11-2012 at 05:46 AM

Actually, we just finished off the apple pie and pumpkin is the next one to go into the oven.

Had pecan before the apple.

We're very pie-bi-partisan here.

ATB,
Sam

presidents of the united states of america

skimtwashington - 8-11-2012 at 06:30 AM

For Sam:

35,000 registered lobbyist w/immediate access to your congress too often control goverment's choices ..not any president and not the peoples vote on issues. When you get rid of them and our congress only meets with educated Harvard-sometimes pullitzer prize winning- professors or other leaders in economics, social systems and such and use their guidance, will real change ever happen. Otherwise electing a new president is like changing the paint on a #@%$#!ty car. Still gonna run like crap.

I vote for pie as a favorite desert!

Peach would be okay:

Damn you Brian and that kitty video... I clicked and realized what it was, then I wanted to stop watching but I couldn't. I was stuck almost hypnotized to watch the whole thing... :embarrased:

rocfighter - 8-11-2012 at 08:40 AM

Voices in my head say to kill you!! Cats are a bit demonic some times. Much like politicians.

why we re-elect presidents..

skimtwashington - 8-11-2012 at 10:02 AM

..Because we hate to admit we were wrong.

so here's another term with the presidents..

kiteballoon - 8-11-2012 at 11:02 AM

I think the thread is a reflection on politics in general -- did you want A or B? Don't worry if you can't decide. They're the same, just different packaging. The majority response seems to be neither please -- and I'd haphazard a guess the rest of our fellow Americans feel quite similar.

That said, we don't vote for elected officials, we tend to vote against them. And for some reason there is this crazy notion of 'wasting' your vote if you vote for someone you actually want to win. Finally, we overemphasis the office of the president, which despite the increasing abuse of power given to the office, our elected statesmen is actually where we should be focused.. Indeed, your locally elected officials (city, county, state) will have greater impact on your life than the guy who sits in the chair in DC.

BeamerBob - 8-11-2012 at 11:04 AM

Well he is an entire branch of the Federal gubmint. The biggest implication with this election will be Supreme Court nominees.

g00fba11 - 8-11-2012 at 01:35 PM

I wrote in Angus Campbell without his permission...

snowspider - 8-11-2012 at 03:59 PM

I second the nomination for Angus! Flyguy0101(Scott) small business is the backbone of America which big business nearly broke, we are now (I hope) precariously balanced on the rail. Lets hope that all the girations , twisting and arm flapping of the congress and senate don't cause more harm than good and we stay balanced on the rail and begin to move ahead.

sendit - 8-11-2012 at 11:37 PM

I think you all should ask yourself why you you are so afraid to talk about politics in this country. What party or group has made it politically incorrect, and worse, socially discouraged, to talk to your neighbor about WHY you vote for a candidate?

Speak up! Our country's political actions affect our kiting and other countries fates. Don't be fooled or intimidated into silence. However, don't just repeat BULL#@%$#! you hear on the media channels. Search for the truth, discuss your reasons, and have a meaningful conversation.

Drewculous - 9-11-2012 at 08:58 AM
