I was out flying my venom today in the 2 inches of snow we received last night. After getting a good feel for the kite I strapped in to my snowboard.
I went down wind a bit and started to edge to go cross-wind. I fell face first and got drag a ways downwind because the kite inverted and dove to the
ground. Several more trys and they all ended with my face in the snow.
I think the problem was I couldn't hold an edge. I read on some other websites that if there isn't much snow skis are much easier than a snowboard. I
have lots of old water skis but no snow skis. Will those skis work? I will be going out kiting again tomarrow and could give it a try.

You need snow skis for snow. Water skis might work in deep powder but never seen or heard of anyone trying. If the light snow was on top of ice then
snow skis will work best. We use snowboards on soccer pitches with the first snowfalls with only an inch or two of snow and that works fine and is a
blast.

You can get oodles of skis for free. Years back, the whole industry changed. Normally, skiing "straight" skis is a waste of time, and everyone wants
parabolic aka shaped skis.
Getting towed by a kite, the straight skis are fine. It's easy to handle out-dated bindings, too. (Simple self-test) It IS worth it to get good
boots! There's an art to getting a good fit. Finding out you don't have a good fit when you're on snow, really sux

I don't snowboard but if you were on ATB I would suggest you need to bend down and lean back more. Lowering your centre of gravity. Push out with your
feet. Better to fall on your butt than go over the top.
It isn't exactly what is easier but what you enjoy , what you know? For me skis are a natural. Boards .... not so much !

What happened with me falling on my face was I fell on my butt, then I started to slide down wind and the snowboards edge caught the ground, and then
I flew over the snowboard. The second day was better because I spent a few hours practiceing snowboarding before I went out. I kept falling on my butt
before I got moving but I got a few low speed cruises.
I started kiteing as an alternative to windsurfing because I am severely allergic to the lake water. I would get extremly itchy red blisters all over
my body for over a week. I know how to lean back and crouch down to keep my balance pretty well. Hopefully we get some more snow soon so I can get
some riding in.
