Is it possible/practical to switch controls on a kite, handles to bar and back? I would like to try both kinds, and it would be nice to be able to
swap and experiment.stetson05 - 20-11-2012 at 09:59 PM
Yes, it is. Most of the time you will be able to get the most control out of handles. You can put kites on a bar and there is also a crossover bar
that should give you more control than a normal bar.Snake - 20-11-2012 at 10:00 PM
Yes, as long as it it fixed bridle. Just don't fly a fixed bridle on a depower bar.John Holgate - 20-11-2012 at 10:03 PM
I almost always use an Ozone Turbo Bar on my fixed bridles when in the buggy - I just find it more comfy and easier to fly with one handed so I can
film with the other. Not all kites fly well on it, but a lot do...
Static flying, I think I'd rather handles.

Thanks that answers the question. MDK - 20-11-2012 at 10:44 PM
I think a stunt kite flyer will like the handles though the bar may bore you. go
to the kite shop and they will let you try a demo with a bar.Bassetman - 20-11-2012 at 11:27 PM
There is no kite shop within 3-400 miles, cheaper to get a bar and try it than to drive clear across the state.stetson05 - 20-11-2012 at 11:39 PM
You could drive to Pasco and try a kite with a bar. I have a couple but no crossover bars.
You actually can use a depower bar on on a fixed bridle. Steering lines to the outside and brakes to the center. When you pull the bar all the way
in it kills the kite, but pull it in just a little and it taps the brakes. I wouldn't say it is the best way though.Bassetman - 21-11-2012 at 12:05 AM
As soon as I can ditch all these freaking relatives after turkey day I may have a chance.peevee - 21-11-2012 at 01:03 PM
Bummer I live in Lewiston ID. Just sold a Ozone turbo bar. What kites do you fly? Not many kiters in our area. I have a few power kites on handles
and a 12 meter depower. You are welcome to come check them out next time I fly. I want to find a place to snowkite up by apoowa grade. It is always
windy up there.
