ALMOST THERE!!!! One of the spots we ride, yesterday morning. Would have been creamy but the ice is still a little thin in spots with springs etc.
Thought really hard about it tho! All dressed up, kites on hand but better judgement prevailed.
The guys over in Maine got out yesterday about 20 minutes from my house. Glass ice with 10kt winds. Of course when they called me I was too busy to
head over and now no wind today. Uhggg.:megan:

That lake looks nice!!! The wind better pick up quick so I can make some more miles. Soon you'll be packing more in one session than I normally get
all season. :embarrased:Feyd - 1-12-2012 at 03:41 PM
Got a call from a local rider who found a spot today and rode all day. No wind here but lots of wind where he was.
Called and left message that the local snowkite season had "Officially" begun. All pumped he got first tracks. He's gonna cry when I tell him some
of his friends in Maine got out yesterday. heheheh.
There better be some wind tomorrow dang it!Feyd - 1-12-2012 at 03:43 PM
He could be the first guy in NH to get out tho. ;-) I WISH I WAS.Cheddarhead - 1-12-2012 at 03:58 PM

WI, shorts and a parka (LOL) Good, reliable lake ice though!Feyd - 2-12-2012 at 06:43 AM
There's a guy lives up the street from me. Every morning I see him walking around in shorts. All year, every year no matter what the weather. He'll
be in snowboots and down jacket with the hood up but still in shorts.
Walks from his house, bout a half mile to his local breakfast place then back every day like clockwork. Must be from Wisco or Buffalo.
Speaking of Wisconsin (or Michigan) Cheddar or anyone else familiar with riding Michigan have any insight as to how the lake freezes up (time etc.)
and how far out from shoreline? After riding it last year during the WISSA Worlds I've been jonsin' to get back out there and put on some miles. I
think it would be awesome to tour the shoreline.snowspider - 2-12-2012 at 11:28 AM
Looking at that lake ice I almost cant breathe , my big guy said to me today "dad there's ice on the pond...I wanted to go touch it". What a strange
addiction we have.Feyd - 2-12-2012 at 11:53 AM
Someone sent me some shots of Pelican Lake and Lake Christina over in Minnesota and it looks AWESOME. Enough ice out there that they have DN iceboat
races going off right now. I wonder waht Rude Boy is up to and if he's managed an free time to sample the goods.

Yeah this warm weather is wrecking havoc on the ice developement in Minnesota; 42 degrees this morning....and I live near the Canadian border!Feyd - 3-12-2012 at 11:12 AM
Hot as nuts here. Mid-50's, drivin me a little nuts. At least it's not raining. There was a thin layer of snow on top of the ice that needed to go
if we want good ice production to kick in. This warmth is definately going to open some water back up but when we get back into the seasonal temps it
should come back and hopefully set up nice before the snow insulates it again.
Awesome wind today. thinking of baggin a short session in a spot that has 4" of black ice and is probably holding up alright inspite of the warmth.
Glad the sun is so low on the horizon and isn't so much of a factor as well.
I'm optimistic things will shape up for us all pretty soon.markite - 3-12-2012 at 03:42 PM
Hey Chris
Bookmark this site that gives twice daily satellite shots over the great lakes and you can watch the ice form (unless it cloudy)
we had a skim of ice looking like glass friday, maybe a chance to ice buggy !! ..... but then mild temps and light rain on the weekend cleaned
everything up. No ice or snow yet in southern Ontario - guys out surfing friday sent photos of their bars iced over and couldn't adjust power and
frozen safety.

Don't forget about big Winnibigoshish. I can recall all the times I've fished there before I knew what a power kite was. I remember the impressive
pressure ridges that would develop, you literally had to drive to shore and go around they were so tall. Jumping over them with a kite would be
fun:wee:Feyd - 9-12-2012 at 12:47 PM
From the other day. Super shallow and well known as far as where thin spot tend to be (springs etc.)
Low key puttering around, not good enough to let it run yet.;-)
Cheddarhead - 9-12-2012 at 03:21 PM
Nice! That's the stuff DN ice boaters dream about.
