First real flying on the 3 meter today. Started at 8 mph gusting 11. That lasted about 90 minutes and then wooush it picked up to a level I was not comfy with...after packing up I took a measure at 25 gusting 36. I had no trouble landing the kite even in the higher winds, just backed it down and staked the handles and it sat there as I packed up. A nice boost to the confidence ...nice to have the brakes:wee:

Glad you got out. I don't know what happened but all the forecasted wind went elsewhere. I could kiteboard in the gap because of the gorge effect but nothing elsewhere.

My smile still hurts.:D

I feel sorry for those stunt kites :) I don't even know where mine are. confidence is good but don't let it waiver caution. these kites have a way of building your confidence quickly then........ :o my 2.5 kicked my a** in my 3rd or fourth session. I still have the scars and memories of my wife picking gravel out of my back and shoulders .... she said I had a perma-grin the whole time though

So ...... When you getting next kite ???? lol ....

We need some of that wind here .....

Big props for knowing when to pack it in !

3m is considered a high wind kite ibut it's not small enough for those winds ! Believe it or not you will eventually be comfortable with that kite into the 20's!

If I kept the kite in the top half of the window I could fly it , but I knew I was beyond what I was comfortable doing....especially since I was alone , it was the gusts that were a bit over the top. I had fun being dragged 5-10 meters each time I flew across the window and curving the drags into a " c" shape by fling into the edge. Next kite is scheduled for February and will be a bit bigger how much I have not decided yet . It will be intended as my main buggy engine. :wee:

just go up one size at a time, by the time you get to the bigger ones you will have the skills and confidence. you will need them all anyway, not sure there is a main buggy engine....you may already have it. you will want to be a little under powered in the bug for a bit too. under powered just means you will have to work the kite a bit but you will still get plenty of speed. I have had 7 sessions in a bug so far and used the same kite only twice and that was the 3.3 Buster. if you liked scudding you need to go to the beach! on the wet sand my longest scud was around 200 feet! it was a blast!
