And? Without highbacks on the bindings, you won't be able to dig your heelside edge hard....board will work great in powder, but difficult on
hardpack.
If you have a chance, try one of these, they are lots of fun http://www.snowfer.com/uni.html board-edge is angled to hold edge already, no highback needed....

PBkiteboarding rides backless all time. I wonder if the MBS straps are wide enough to accommodate winter footwear?? Actually there is a company that
sells backless bindings.

None the less it will be cool to hear your review on if the mbs binding strap was successful or not. Like mentioned with just the strap it might be
difficult to grab an edge well. With the snowboard binding you at least still have the heel part holding you in.

Shaggs- I think you are confusing the term "highback/no highback" with "backless". A single strap over the top of the foot would qualify as
"backless". The switchback bindings can be "no highback" but they still wrap around the heel...so they have a back....
