Hi,ive heard recently that a way has come about for people to put L.E.Ds on the leading or trailing edges of their Kites for use at night....has anyone ever heard of anything like that?

There are a few different lighting systems for sale. Check out some of the retail stores listed in the forum's links section.

Another option is to use glowsticks attached to the point where the flylines meet the bridle.

Do you know of anyone who has done it?...I mean,ive only just got into this stuff so its something I heard about from a friend...thanx for the info....I wonder if such a thing would be a success too?

I believe that the Kite Lights system has been moderately successful over the years (though more suitable for fixed wing sport kites).

Many power kiters either attach glow sticks to the bridles or stuff them into the cells of the foil kites. This does not provide a stunning light show, but rather helps to trace the movement of the kite while buggying at night. It's especially helpful when folks are buggying in a pack (remember to but a couple on your buggy too).

just bought me a set of magnetic ones for £4.50 all in with p+p

Can't say I've ever really had the urge to fly my kites at night!!!

have flown kites with glow stix for over 10 yrs now.
started off as a ufo hoax i did, then was just great to fly at night.
you can also crack open the stix and chuck it all over the kite. doesnt last long but v. effective.
led good but heavy.Text:ninja:

How many are you getting for that? I got 10 pairs, all with batteries and a spare set of batteries for £13 all in off a glow stick web site

Has anyone tried Glow-Wire - looks like you could put the power in the cells at one end and pass it through to the cell at the other end and give a nice glow on your leading edge. Or even Glow in the dark paint, but I don't know how much this would affect the way the kite flies. But there is loads of stuff you could use at http://www.theglowcompany.co.uk!!
