Florida Buggy Beaches

kiteplace - 26-12-2012 at 11:09 PM

I'm heading to Florida mid January for a month or so.
I welcome any suggestions and info on good places to Buggy.
Of coarse I have to stop by Jekyll Island on the way and enjoy their beautiful uncrowded beach and nice bike paths.
Thanks
Pleasant Breezes,
Don

Having just spent 6 weeks there, I can say that the open beaches were hard to find.

The first two weeks I went to a few places and had trouble finding open beaches.

Treasure Island was good. It should be very empty in January.

Siesta key was a beautiful beach. However, the day I was there the line to the parking lot was 1 mile long and gridlocked. Nice beach though.

I went to St Augustine and the beach there would be great for buggy. I recommend going there.

Those are the only places I went. I went to TI, found it met my needs and did not venture elsewhere.

I have a buggy but it was stuck at home.

Hey Don

I have been to Treasure Island also. The beach is very wide and you can buggy there. Claxton has buggyed there for years. There should not be much of a crowd in Jan.

Hope you have a good time.

Jekyll and Anastasia State Park are 2 of my favorite places to buggy.

Huguenot beach north of jacksonville has a huge low tide beach and you can drive right up to it

Thanks for your suggestions.
I was at Treasure Island maybe 15 years ago for a Kite Fest. I had not even thought of Buggying at that time. Nice wide beach and definitely on my list of stops.
Been to St Augustine say 10 years ago and borrowed a buggy for some newbe fun. It's on the list too.
Huguenot beach I'm looking forward to.
Under the category of "Life happens while we are busy making other planes", I will be postponing my Florida trip till next winter as I just got accepted into a skilled volunteer program at a Retreat on the Big Island of Hawaii. Three months in Paradise all expenses paid.
I'm STOKED !
Sorry to say I will be missing NABX for the first time in many years.

Don

I second Saint Augustine- nice big flat beach- won't be busy this time of year...

Stick to Anastasia State Park to avoid any legal entanglements. The local statutes are not friendly to us, but the park rangers are.

Shoot- I get those FL beaches confused :puzzled:

I meant Anastasia State Park. Costs a few bucks to park there, but well worth it
