As I look to the last few days of this year, I have 3 birthdays to celebrate with one of them having to many candles to blow out by myself. The fact
that I have one more to deal with is by far one of the most gracious gifts I have been given.
It got me thinking of the last few years and the number of things that have transpired. Along with becoming friends with people in the medical field
and people here on PKF, I have to speak up and respond to those thoughts of what could have been.
I was out at the park yesterday with 3 of my grandkids, with the weather a bit wet and the wind blowing enough to let you know it was not completely
still, we set up a few kites and proceeded to try out some ideas. We ended up with a 4.5 Century on 204' lines and added 2 cameras to the kite and we
all took turns explaining why we couldn't get the kite up in the air. The best reason was, "I'm a bit rusty, havent been out in a while", and "If we
had more wind" being the real reason the kite wouldn't get off the ground.
So with the "let me try" determination of all 3 kids, and 2 broken cameras, we were able to have a blast once the kite got about 150' above the ground
where the wind was. Tired arms and grass stained jeans, we all agreed to call it a day and proceeded to clean off all the goose poop from everything
and anything that wanted a return trip in the truck. After stopping for lunch and the drive home made me think of the smiles and laughing that we all
were part of for the day.
As I sit here and look at the 2 remains of my cameras, I have a hard time not thinking of the simplicity of "just get a new camera". My GoPro HD, took
a long trip after breaking the mount from about 180" up. I was told by my granddaughter that it bounced 4 times before it became 3 pieces that went in
different directions, which looked pretty sweet from what they all told me in stereo.
I have had the best couple of years in my could have been short life, and I want to thank my PKF family for being part of my life. Along with the
orders and the phone calls and the people who just want a bit of info, business has been better than expected. The events that I have been part of and
hope to be part of in the near future, I have been rewarded with a joy I can only hope you all will have in your life.
I am grateful of things, people, events, jaw breakers and ice cream. I am grateful that I am a big kid at heart and an old man in life.
Are you glad to be done with 2012? If so, are you ready for 2013?
How about you?

Makes me smile as I reflect on all the wonderful memories that have transpired since I first picked up a kite. Days of high winds and kids laughing.
Etc a very good post I would say.
