Sometimes I wonder if my skudding speeds are above/below others.
Got me thinking "Why not have a little contest?"
Slap on those I phones and use a positioning application and lets see how we do. I think it would have to be a 50ft min. skud to get a good read.

I remember hearing we might have a group scud session/race at WWBB. Guess we all forgot about it with everything else going on. Next time.
I'm game for something different. Spent alot of time scudding when learning at the beach in soft sand, but haven't scudded much lately. It's always
fun and a good workout/ balance excersize.
It's kinda hard to keep a steady speed while scudding from the friction. A few seconds your hauling a$$ on your heals, then your barely moving, over
and over depending where the kite is in the window.
Had a great scud session first time out with the 14m Gin Eskimo a few years back doing big loops and figure 8's. Scudded the local beach for a few
blocks nonstop over and over. Could of went a mile if I started farther upwind of the pier and had a ride back.
Work boots were squeeling from the friction and the soles got warm. I don't think work boots are the best choice for scudding.
Smoother soles might work better.
Watch for changes in the surface. A mound, gully or dry to wet can screw up a good run.
I'll carry the GPS next time. Here's video from Belmar with the 14m Gin Eskimo. In 2 hours the weather went from sunny to damp misty fog. Everything
was soaked at the end. I'll guess speed @ 12-15mph at times? And a few slolom cans to make it interesting ;-).......
