A good day in the buggy

Taper123 - 27-1-2013 at 04:43 PM

Any day in the buggy is a good day... A day with four different vintages of PL Kites and an assortment of buggy's riding together for miles... priceless.

(Phantom, Charger, Phantom2, and a Charger2)

Sounds like fun.....Did you hit Galveston or Corpus?

Taper123 - 27-1-2013 at 05:49 PM

Just south of Galveston. We were running from Surfside Beach to the point near San Luis Pass.

Sounds awesome. I saw the wind was suppose to be good today. Is the beach packed in Galveston on the weekends....I have only tried there during the week in the winter.

Its pretty empty right now with a few fishermen , dogs and toddlers. Wind pick up a bit right after Steve left. Mark, Jeremiah and I had another run to the pass and back. The I was the slowest with the Charger 2 so only manage to get a top speed of 30mph. The hardpack was really nice today.

Good to see Steve out there .. it's been awhile. We need to plan another one soon while the wind is good and the beaches are empty.

A good day indeed. I started the day with a dead battery in my Bike at a gas station before riding, but ended up with an awesome buggy run with friends. So, absolutely no complain there. Seeing 4 Arcs with different colors in the area is a quite plesant scene as well. Loving the new phatom I just acquired here and it'll be my new go to kite now.

I will see you guys at the beach soon again, and hopefully with my Libre on the bigfoot wheels mod next time!

Oh, and I somehow found out that you can buggy with the Phantom with no hands =]. No special setup required as long as the wind is right.

Looks and sounds like a good day was had by all. Already had plans for Sunday , or it would have been 5 PL arcs in the Gulf Coast winds( got a new phantom 18m in the mail Saturday from Goofball) Trust me I was chomp-in at the bit. Was thinking about getting some shirts made up labeled ( S.E. Texas Wind Rats) w/ the old rat fink character flying a PL arc in the buggy. post up for the next trip down maybe ,we can get Dylan there also for 6 arcs,
love ridin the wind........Herb:smilegrin:

Glad yall had some good wind and good runs. The Freeport side of the beach is a great place if the winds are onshore.

I've drivn down the beach with a kite tied the back of the truck... Gotta love the stability of Arc's sometimes.

Susan... was a great day with the wind almost dead onshore. Stonehenge is no more as well. All of the cment pilings have been removed, so there were no obstructions, pilings, or much of anything to slow you down.

And...here are some of the footage with all 4 ARCs from my Gopro. It's in 720p, but I don't know how to embed this on the forum with 720p default. So you'll have to change the quality setting manually.

That was fun watching them all fly together. All 15s? Phantom II was the fastest?

van - 29-1-2013 at 10:40 PM

All 15m. Wind was kinda light during the video. I would guess around 10-12 mph. The phantoms are definitely faster than the chargers, doesn't matter 1 or 2. It was hard to compare if the phantom 1 was faster or phantom 2 since they were paired up with different buggy size and rider experience. I know I had a hard time getting my buggy going with the 15m Charger 2 in that wind. I top out at 30mph later in the day when the wind pick up to about 15mph. The motorcycle tires grip a little bit too well .. lol ... I feel the friction but it rides like it was on rails.

Taper123 - 30-1-2013 at 11:19 AM

Ummm... No. I was flying a 12M Charger

Phantom II was close... fastest was a 12M Charger. But with a little more experience in the libre... the pilot with the Phantom II might have beat me and my Flexi with the 12M. He was able to keep up quite well once he got settled in.

Lol.... and if anyone has doubts... Let's just pick another day to buggy/video. Next time I propose a short track with cones to work on improving kite skills in close quarters...

Ya'll interested?

Got my new compact sticks for the 15 m Synergy in the mail today from Angus ,So I will be up for some riden .

Taper123 - 31-1-2013 at 05:50 PM

Hopefully next weekend will work.... this weekend looks iffy. Would be nice to have a couple more times out with several buggies... cause once the spring crowd hits the beach, the really long runs at high speed are over.... but there is always lots of opportunities for 1/4 to 1 mile circuits. Or just grab a kiteboard and go offshore :bouncy:

van - 31-1-2013 at 05:56 PM

I totally forgot you were on a 12m...no wonder you were fast...haha. It's not fair since your buggy is half the weight of mine :smilegrin:

I can't wait to go again. I will test your charger against my fly surfer speed. They did make the charger 2 more stable but that might also have taken some performance away.

Nfish - 31-1-2013 at 08:50 PM

I'm definitely up for it! Although I won't be back from UK till next Saturday afternoon...so I can only make it on Sunday. I'm upgrading my wheels too...Van, give me those bling blings :tumble:
