Buggy parts

soliver - 3-2-2013 at 09:28 PM

Hey guys, just wanted to put the feelers out and see if you guys might be able to help.

I was talking with wifey about possibly putting together a tandem rig for my bug so that I could give the kids (or wifey herself) a ride along. She seemed interested to the extent that it wouldn't be too pricey. So here's what I'm thinking... I'm sure some of you all have parts left over from having upgraded your bug, so what kind of price would you be willing to put on them?

Here's what I think I will need to put together a tandem rig for the kiddos ...and keep in mind I'm thinking primarily along the lines of the PL comp XR+

Rails & seat
Rear axle
2 barrows with or without bearings

The rest I think I can fabricate, and I would love to keep it under $200 if possible.

I recognize that this is most of the buggy, but it seems like it would be possible to pick up individual pieces from guys who have upgraded individual pieces.

Take into account that this is only a scouting mission and I'm just getting a feel for how much I may realistically have to spend.

Thanks, Spencer

No bites?

Really just looking for PL xr rails if you may have upgraded to VTT rails or other parts you might have & can part with etc...

Even if you have a whole used bug you're willing to part with?

I've gotten a few emails out to people but still coming up reasonably dry.

Well,... Bump

Now that I think about it, I think Dino had what you are looking for a while back.

There is a flexifoil buggy on flea bay right now for 350.00 good deal as far as entire buggies go considering the trike guy is almost double that. You could also ask Van since he just did work for you, he might have parts that you need just sitting around that were proto-types that just might work for what you need.

I will be posting (pictures) and review soon of my new seat Van made me, so I might have my original flexifoil seat for you..just throwing out options...

I have a PL Comp 2000 Buggy - brand new never assembled. It has the 15mm rear axle instead of the 20mm. I can sell you the entire thing for $245.00 plus shipping minus the front wheel, fork and downtube.

So, that would include:
Buggy Seat
Frame Rails
Rail pads and covers
15mm rear axle w/bolts
2 20mm Rear wheels complete, with 15mm bearing adapters, 20mm bearings and spacers.
Wrenches and instruction pack.

Add on $89.00 and I will include one of our exclusive two piece backrest kits - or $59.00 and get just the lower backrest kit. :)

Let me know. If anyone else is interested in this buggy as complete, I am willing to let it ride for $399.00 plus shipping.

A new trikebuggy, the guys who make the flexi classic not kite trike, is a thousand, so three fifty is a really good deal.

I'm definitely interested, but I just think that's more than I want to spend, it is an awesome deal on new gear, but I don't think wifey will go for it.

That's petty much why I want to go with used stuff

I'm really hoping to get most of what I need for around $200. Unfortunately the shipping does me in, Kent.

Maybe this is unrealistic.

I've got a few emails out to Dino and Van,... Still hunting guys, thanks.

awindofchange - 7-2-2013 at 12:13 PM

Soliver, If you don't take the tires then I can go 195.00 for the kit and I will include shipping. The shipping charges start to get a bit expensive when you have to ship multiple boxes - buggy frame + tires. I will still include the 15-20mm adapters for you if you still need them. It depends on what wheels you will be using. If they are the older style the adapters will not be needed, if it is the newer 20mm size, then you will need them.

You may be able to score a couple tires & wheels for a deal from some of the members.

Damn, Kent. Talk about the extra effort to get rid of a 13 year old buggy.
You could offer it up for free since it is over 13 years old, come on dude, have you seen the pick of his kid? kinda looks like yours. Have a heart man.

If you cant get any thing going on this tandem buggy thing, I will make it work for you while I am back there in a few months.(I have some trade-in parts that will get you going) If you cant wait till then, tell the girls that Anything good in life is worth waiting for.
My wife says I'm good, so have a good laugh and I will see you in a couple of months.

soliver - 7-2-2013 at 01:57 PM

Thanks Jeff, I have something in the works, if it doesn't come to fruition I will shoot you an email.

It may also be possible I might only need a few parts & will know more specific later on. I will let you know.

Kent, thank you for the offer, but it will be outside my budget in the end so I will have to pass. I appreciate your willingness to work something up for me.

Bladerunner - 7-2-2013 at 04:06 PM

I am almost positive I have a set of side rails deep in the shed.

If you want them I could send them to you. Say, $25 + shipping to pay for digging them out?

soliver - 7-2-2013 at 07:10 PM

Wow BR, that sounds great!!!

are they from an XR? if not what are they from?

I've got something in the works with Van, but its not guaranteed he will have all the parts I need, so hold that thought and if I need them, I will shoot you a U2U. LOVE the price!

There is a reasonable likelihood that I might need them, but let me see what Van can come up with.

van - 8-2-2013 at 07:20 AM

I have a few prototype pieces ( seat, axles, rails ) laying around so I'll see what I can scrounge up. Also got plenty of wheels and tires that I demo once or twice.

Bladerunner - 8-2-2013 at 07:37 AM

The rails are Peter Lynn. I think XR stanard rail ? Got them for Frankin'buggy but never used them.
I will be out of town for a few days but can dig them out next week if you end up needing them.

bigkid - 8-2-2013 at 11:35 AM

BR, if he wants the rails, send them down with Dirtslide and I can ship them for a bit less $$.

awindofchange - 8-2-2013 at 12:27 PM

Jeff, the buggy is one of the very last 2000's produced. It is actually a 2005 model so not 13 years old, and it is still brand new. I'ts here for whoever is looking for a deal and I am not trying that hard to "get rid" of it. I just thought it would be a good deal for what he was looking to do so I made the offer. I wish I could give it away for free but just can't quite afford to do that yet.

Maybe you should just give him a free Libre? After all, you're the distributor and get a much better discount than I ever would. :) :)

Soliver, sorry the deal isn't going to work for you. If you change your mind or find you need anything else, let me know and I will give you the best deal possible.

soliver - 8-2-2013 at 01:35 PM

Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate all the effort you guys are giving this,.... Van and I have exchanged some emails and he's going to try to put something together for me (after he finishes Dino's rack i'm sure :) )if he has all the necessary parts. If nothing else, I'm sure he will have some of what I will need... That said if there is anything lacking, I will shoot you a U2U Bladerunner.

Thanks again guys

soliver - 8-2-2013 at 09:11 PM

Emailed you too, Jeff

soliver - 9-2-2013 at 08:45 PM
