Hello everyone! Been lurking here for a few months. Still new to this exciting hobby. Started summer before last with an HQ 1.8 and was hooked that
day. I've carefully moved up to a very nice Ozone Flow 3m (thanks Kent @ AWoC ). I frequent Jockey's Ridge in NC a few times each year for vacations. Looking forward to learning more from the great minds here!abkayak - 14-2-2013 at 01:25 PM

Thanks abkayak! Yeah. Already had a few days where the 3m just barely hung in the sky. In my 20 year younger Xgame days, I would jump all over bigger
kites. But, I don't heal as fast anymore. :tumble: I learned real quick powerkites demand respect. I like to play smarter, not harder nowadays. My
kids do like to see daddy everynight LOL. But, boy is it fun watching the pros!!3shot - 14-2-2013 at 01:56 PM

Welcome,
Please consider riding the wind. If you think flying is fun I can promise you it is hardly 1/2 the thrill .
Power kiting is a great sport and with the right attidude you can keep it pretty safe. Not unlike skiing and many other sports , how extreme you make
it is completely up to uou . Proper padding makes all the difference now we don't bounce back as well. I make a point of always wearing a helmet. I
add elbow, knee and butt pads as conditions dictate. It is very refreshing to have a new member come in and talk about keeping safe in their 1st post.
We like your style !

Wow! Thanks for the warm welcome so far everyone!!! It's good to see some nods from the pros ! I'm not faint of daredevil heart, but I've had my share of busted bones from dirtbikes 20 years ago
I can't put into words the enjoyment I get from nothing but the wind and a power kite!
And, wifey actually enjoys watching me fly/being pulled around. Boy those things can tug :wee:mougl - 14-2-2013 at 07:06 PM
Just wait till you step up to the 5m
It's coming...
I remember when I started, "Just a kite or 2. No buggy, no board, none of that stuff, just the kites!" Yeah, about that...3shot - 14-2-2013 at 07:51 PM

Been watching that one for a couple days
I really like the quality of the Ozone line. I've seen a lot of the blue 5m but not many red ones. Heck, my 3m has the blue 5m pattern LOL. So I'm all
kinds of liking it now!soliver - 14-2-2013 at 08:24 PM
Welcome aboard 3shot!
The other guys were right, I'm still pretty newbyish myself and the guys on here are indeed a great source of info and helpfulness.
If you can get together with anyone on here, it will help you grow your skill immensely.
Ant FYI, most of us refer to it more as an addiction than a hobby
GET THE 5m!!! ... And a buggy!John Holgate - 14-2-2013 at 09:36 PM
Welcome and + 1 for what Bladerunner said. I started with a 2.5m Imp but once I saw a kite buggy.......
You really can make this sport as easy or as challenging as you want. I tend to really enjoy relaxed cruising up and down the beach while other guys
I fly with chase speed or air and tricks with the buggys....or landboards......or kiteboards.....
We're spoilt for choice!3shot - 15-2-2013 at 07:18 AM

I'm sure there will be lots of with a 5m. It didn't take me long to really
start wanting the Flow 3m. I still love the 1.8, but quickly realized it only works in certain conditions which cut my fun time down. I now have a
larger range with the 3m I purchased last year, and a good understanding of basic 4 line flight characteristics. I find myself wanting to fly more on
a regular basis, and have had days where my 3m hardly got off the ground as I mentioned . I think with the addition of a 5m, I will have my basic needs met. It seems like every thread I've browsed through the past few
months has one thing in common, there is always a next kite comming. It does seem that same effect is catching me as well . Just two weeks ago I was at a school yard. There were a few dads with
young kids practicing some softball. It was a good day. Wind was dragging me around a bit on the 3m. When the kids finished up, one of the dads walked
over to me and said, "looks like you need a smaller kite lol". I said nope! It's working just fine. He just kinda looked at me :puzzled: . If he only
understood :wee: .silvereaglekiter - 15-2-2013 at 07:48 AM
