yep, I plan on making it to Alvord quite a bit, lets keep in touch and meet-up again! yeah dad was a little stingy with the bug, his only chance was
in really low wind and when I was loading up at the end of the day. He is a happy camper, well except that he has hand surgery Monday from a pocket
knife accident so he will have some heeling time to endure before I let him take the handles. MDK - 17-2-2013 at 11:06 AM

be the NABX version, but will probably be getting the Beach version some day as well. for now I have the beach racer version from the Playa.kitebuggybagman - 17-2-2013 at 03:55 PM

Oh I wish, the bug will be there but unfortunately Pops will not make it. Pops is pretty excited about his bugs being there though popeyethewelder - 17-2-2013 at 11:30 PM
Thanks for all the positive comments guysbigkid - 17-2-2013 at 11:51 PM
All that hard work and so pretty, just to end up with that red dust stuck all over the thing. Guess if your going to get it dirty, there is no better
place. Nice work Carl, Did I understand there is another something in the wind?
OK Mike, I expect to see you and Bobby out on the far side of the playa going at the world record. I hope to see the Viper beat the Apex.
Nice looking ride
I would think with all the work on the polishing, the buggy would come with a pair pf PTW Sunglasses as a required accessory.
Maybe Mike can hand out sunglasses to everyone so we could see it with out getting blinded. I guess I am a bit envious.:embarrased: Think I could have
a ride my good friend?heheheMDK - 18-2-2013 at 08:17 AM
LOL, I will keep it clean , Jeff , of course you can ride, well if you can get me
off the playa long enough popeyethewelder - 18-2-2013 at 12:11 PM

Thanks Jeff, nothing in the wind as far as I know...I know I am winding the buggy building down I will only build buggies for the last few sets of
side rails I have, then just concentrate on modifications, repairs and buggy parts rather than whole buggies.
I feel I have gone as far as I can go really, the Dominators I feel are my legacy if thats the right word...something completely different from
anything out there, still very functional....and a complete head turner where ever they roll onto the beach.
As far as the more conventional buggies are concerned, well, I think I have almost exhausted every concept via the medium of stainless steel, there
are only so many guises for three wheels and a bit of bent tube isn't there. The buggies I have made during the last 12 months have and can do
everything all the latest modern race buggies can do as far as adjustability and performance is concerned, so there really is no where else to
go.....Mike's Viper buggy is a goodun and one I would have loved to keep myself, but then I wanted to keep all my buggies at the time, and the mad
thing is, I do not even own a PTW buggy.....ha ha, couple of reasons for that:-
1/ Any time I made a buggy and would roll onto a beach somewhere, people would make me an offer I could not refuse, so I never kept a buggy
long.....perhaps the Cheetah was the one I had the longest, then a guy drove the length of the UK and came and bought it off me....again lol
2/ Most people have come to associate a high hand polished buggy with PTW....so I simply just could not turn up on a beach with a non polished one of
my own buggies, it always had to shine lol
So what did I do to combat those two things....I bought as good a buggy as I could buy as far as I was concerned, an Apexx, I have the utmost respect
for Ozzy and Ruudje and paid them for one of their buggies out of respect rather than just copy it, like I could have easilly done.
No one now offers to buy my buggy, (I dont know why, maybe because even a second hand Apexx is worth more than my buggies.....I dont know) so I have
the pleasure for once of getting to know a buggy inside and out.
I am not interested in mass producing, nothing would bore me more, but,I have thoroughly enjoyed my journey making buggies to this point, I can
honestly say I made every buggy like it was my own, and you can only do that making one offs and low quantities of the same buggy.
The truth of the matter is I am quite bored with making them. Now, if I lived near Mike or Bobby, with endless dry lakes on my doorstep, then for
sure, there would be one speed buggy after another rolling out of my garage, but my location does not have anything remotely like those places.

I can so relate.
Just be sure to keep the last 2 posters of your bugs. One to role up and store away and show the next generation, and one to hang in the living room
with a big frame around it and a half dozen spot lights shinning on "The glory of PTW".
Then you can sit in your favorite chair, drink beer, and remember all the hard work, the hand polishing, the cleaning, the busted knuckles, the burns,
the deep scratches that took way to long to polish out.... oops. You can sit in your chair and know the joy of each buggy and relive it daily, with
another beer, and...... Oh the good life, need to go buggy in the Apexx. dirtslide - 18-2-2013 at 08:35 PM
