Anyone on here live in NZ?

nzziggi - 18-2-2013 at 06:34 PM

Hello from New Zealand
After a few years travelling around NZ I have finally settled in Kerikeri (used to live in Plymouth UK )
Anyone on here live in NZ? If so, anyone close to KK?
I'm looking for someone to help me relight the spark I once had for kiting.
My Typhoon MKI (currently have NZ made PL) will be here in a few weeks from the UK and i'm looking for someone to do the 90 mile beach with me, in a SW wind heading North from Ahipara to Cape as far as possible.
Anyone?

I want to live in NZ... does that count? :)

Hi Mate not too many Kiwis inhabit this place.

I would go to an Aussie site called Extreme Kites
www.extremekites.com.au

Cheers

So it looks like I could one of the few, shame lovely long beaches up here for buggy or board & some great Kitesurfing.
Wanting to live in NZ sadly doesn't count, but if you ever visit drop me a message.
I'll check out the Aussie site, thanks.
Ashburton is many, many Km's from here, but I did visit them in 2007, i'll if I got photos. Lovely people.

NZ is one SWEET place. I toured N and S islands many years ago. I was amazed.

Kamikuza is a Kiwi I believe, but resides in Japan. He is a regular here on PKF.

And, of course, you need to look up Peter Lynn Kite Shop and maybe the man himself.

I visited Kerikeri back in 1988. I loved it. Beautiful water and coast line.

I need to take a kiting world tour and visit all of these awesome spots again. When do I get to retire?

Yup, I'm a Kiwi... well, half-breed - mother-dearest is an Ozzie.

I'll have to google where Kerikeri is :D but Ashburton is just down the road from my home town.

There's an NZ kite forum too, but I forget the URL - it's not very busy. Plummet on kiteforum.com is pretty active so he'll be easy to get hold of - he surfs and boards somewhere up north...

nzziggi - 19-2-2013 at 09:34 PM

Hmmmm Kerikeri is WAY up north.
I tried Kiteforum.co.nz but it's totally dead, sadly.
Well, if ever anyone lands on the NZ Northland beaches, drop me a line, always eager to meet up and fly, might even have a spare buggy to loan.

Kamikuza - 20-2-2013 at 06:14 AM

Yeah, Plummet is up there! extremekites.au or kiteforum.COM to get hold of him :)

Dorkland eh... why don't you come down to Christchurch instead

I lived in Papakura 30 yrs ago but remember going to the Bay of Islands and scuba.

Ate my first raw scallop there. Right outa the ocean.

Mmmm...I remember kerikeri!

Good for you for being there. Enjoy!

I can't be the only kiter here, can I?
Buggies made here, Kites designed here, even used as test site, so why is it not more popular here in NZ.
Well, they miss out. I'm off for a sunrise buggy the coming weekend, looks like a solo outing.

Hi Ziggy
I live in NZ but a long way from you. I am in Dunedin but know the area you live in. Used to live up that way but was before I started kiting. Unfortunately the NZ forum went through a bad patch a while back and was so bad most of us have given up on it but it is worth posting there just in case someone drops in.
There are a few kiting events around the most notable one being the Moose meet at Murawai Beach.
There are a few of us who buggy and kitesurf down here but the west coast is the place if you want long beaches.
Kitesurfing is the most popular kite sport in NZ and very popular in some places eg Nelson.
If you head south let me know and we may be able to catch up

Ye' Dunedin a short roadtrip from me. I lived near Ch'ch' a short time (got out due to quakes)
Must've been a bad time for the forum to just disappear.
Any idea where I can get info on Moose meet?

Cheers
