Anything other than Sabre or Frenzy?

leebrianh - 14-9-2006 at 05:59 AM

I am looking into a depower kite, size around 9.5 and narrowed down to either Sabre2 9.5 or Frenzy07 10 for landboarding and snowkiting.

Is there any other kites out there equivalent to or even better than those two for landboarding and snowkiting?

Both Flexifoil and Ozone have reputation for good quality so I guess I can't go wrong with either way but since I am going to spend that much, I want to know what other options I have before making my decision. Thanks

Brian...
Ozone came out with a few new kites. They're coming out with the Access 2, Frenzy 07 and Manta for 2007 from what I've read on another forum...here's what the vendor from windzup said about them..

" 2007 brings the perfection of the FRENZY design with 3 models for every style of riding. The Access is the lowest cost Snowkite for all around freeriding....the Frenzy 07 is the ultimate performance Snowkite, and the Manta is for the most experienced kiters seeking total flying performance."

"All three are amazing new models based on the original Frenzy design, but each exceeds previous models in performance. The Access 2 is a Frenzy for any one with plenty of torque....the Frenzy has more power and speed per size with plenty of stability, perfect for anyone looking for more powered riding and flying....the Mantra is the Chasta signature model and is higher aspect and more power per size."

"The Mantra has more cells then the Frenzy and the Frenzy has more cells than the Access. The Access flies like any other Frenzy, and each other model is designed with subsequently more power and speed per size. The Mantra 12m pulls like the Frenzy 14m and the Mantra 10m pulls like the Frenzy 12m. The Frenzy 7.5 has slightly more pull and speed than the Access 8 meter."

"So far I have been completely surprised and impressed with the gains in the 07 line up compared to all of Ozone's previous Snowkites. This year is definiely the mark from where the future will branch off." -Brian Schenck

I thought you had a Sabre and bought a HQ Montana too? Didn't you get that for snowkiting? The montana's from what I've read and heard from other people are awsome kites. I've flown the 5m Montana and it seemed like a really solid kite, easy to control and had lots of pull and lift when you wanted it.
If you're trying to decide between the Frenzy and the Sabre2 though..I'd almost have to say go with Ozone's Frenzy or Mantra. While both have a good reputation for good quality, I know more people that snowkite flying frenzy's then I do that fly Flexi's. IMO, if a lot of people are purchasing something to use for a certain sport and continue to purchase it every year, then there has to be something said about the quality and function of that product. So if it were me it really wouldn't be a choice..it be moreso just finding the funds to purchase what everyone else seems to already have..haha.
